So glad that you tube finally had gotten the right # words correct to find this repair. I was puzzled that you didn't pull the gasket off prior to putting into your cleaning solvent though. So I was trying to look at the linkages off the governor. This 97cc engine is missing the rod and return spring and despite replacing the throttle cable and handle it still fails to work properly. Parts for this engine are obsolete I believe and very hard to find a replacement engine to takes it's place to fit inside this small frame. I believe also you stated that you are going to replace the clutch as well, so maybe you can take a detour and show the return springs during the next phase of your project??? That would be awesome

I built simple spring-loaded chain tensioners for my older doodlebug (6.5 Predator swapped) and Motovox mbx-10 bikes so it never puts too much tension on my clutch bushings or wheel bearings, (especially if the sprocket is a tiny bit wobbly ) the spring compensates and keeps my chain at the perfect tension at all times. All ya need is like a 3 inch, slim piece of metal with a hole on each end (And a smaller hole near the middle) and a medium sized spring to run from the smaller hole to the frame, I use a small hose clamp to attach end of spring to frame. Then washers and a bolt that's not threaded all the way to the bolt head, needs about 3/8" or so of bare shank ( so it can swing up n down without accidentally tightening up the bolt at the swivel point too much,) and attach that end to the stock chain tensioner slot, and the stock plastic tensioner wheel goes on the other end of the metal piece. Works awesome! I also drip 3 or so drops of motor oil on the end of crankshaft where the clutch slides on, about every half hour or so, I just keep it in an old eye drops squeeze bottle in my pocket.

If I may to anyone watching this vid: I would NOT remove and reinstall the carb in this manner. Your removal method is putting a hell of a lot of strain on the governor arm and actually bending it. Simpler method that won't damage anything and actually makes reassembly easier is to just remove both of the carb/air filter mounting studs. Just unscrew from engine case while holding carb...then gently lift carb off and away from motor while ONLY removing the linkage and spring from the carb ONLY. Much simpler and won't bend anything.

@@RepairGang Yes sir it is a fine vid. Lots of people working on these motors and doing carb jobs end up breaking the governor arm...forget where the springs and linkage attach...and pull their hair out trying to figure out the tiny springs and rods and such. I just tell them to simply unscrew the 2 long thin mounting studs, then remove and gently twist the carb till the linkage rod and tiny spring come off the carb throttle plate.

Hey! I’m having trouble with my db30 *doodle bug*. The spark plug burns out fast and changed it with new spark plugs a couple times and still the same. I just bought it couple days ago. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Just scored one myself for 200$ just installed a new clutch, and carburetor Will need a new spark plug and fuel, it’s having trouble actually going… it will run and start to accelerate but goes maybe 1 mph - something isn’t right

big no no on soaking the clutch in lube, it has to be dry. the area, you are supposed to lube is between the bell housing, and the clutch pack at the shaft, only.

i just got one thats been setting in a hot garage for a decade. no fluids in it but it has compression and all that. i tried giving it some gas and it started leaking around the carb so i assume i should probably buy all new seals for it right? also the fuel line broke so ima def replace that too.

How do i check the brakes on a baja doodlebug 212cc.. i have hydraulic brakes and the brake lever just squeezed all the way in the other day when riding .. how do i know if i should just add brake fluid or bleed it or change pads ?? Just bought a used one of these...I got it running but when I turn choke off it won't run....changed engine oil and it was gray...wtf...they also had a spring on govner to fuel pitcock and I don't know why...would appreciate any advice...thanks

Depends if you have a 5/8 shaft or 3/4 shaft a 5/8 will not fit on a 3/4

This helped looks like I need to order a throttle linkage too I bought one without a carb and air filter. I have those now I’ve ordered a governor return spring I have the throttle return spring. Anything else I need to get the throttle working right?

I got it working but not perfect. So I ordered a carb and intake for a motorized bicycle to try to put on it. I’ll have to modify the intake a bit for the bolt holes but hopefully it works better and gives it more control on the gas. Now it’s almost like no gas or wide open

Yeah, don’t forget to oil that clutch really good. Just giver a good shot all over. Get it all over in them big holes and that will make er chooch for sure. 😂😂😂😂
