Pvp for streamers and content creation vs pvp for normal avg player?? Is 2 completely different games. I honestly think the skill to get duelist consistently isnt far off glad, the difference is more logistical than skill wise. You need a consistent team that will learn and grind your particular set up with you and climb slowly. The issue here is people leave too quickly and people dont have a tonne of time to dedicate to grinding rating

Correct me if am wrong, but back in tbc days official pvp tournaments didn't allow players to use add-ons and they had to demonstrate their awareness and skill through equal base interface, which was really cool, because it let people, who just started doing PvP compare themselves to what they aspire to be, knowing that there's nothing else involved but pure skill. There's this beautiful thing, where you know that this person managed to reach the top with the same tools available to you right now, all you have to do is play the game and get better. It's not true anymore and when people see those crazy NASA looking interfaces, it feels like they're dogfighting an F-22 with Cessna, it must be incredibly demotivating.

But on a more serious note, something that might be well received from the community is if you made a video with tips and tricks for someone just starting out in pvp. Kind of like a roadmap to success for them. Like some basics of arena. Some add-ons to start with. And maybe even just some gameplay with you commenting on it and explaining why you made certain plays and what you look for when making said plays would be cool. Just as an idea.

I feel like if they want Arena and WoW pvp in general grow from the spectator experience, they need to disable all add-ons. It only harms the game when people try to watch arenas or PVP and every person they watch has a completely different UI/Addon setup.

If we want more people to get into pvp you have to lower the barrier of entry. Telling a new player “Im sorry but the class you picked probably won’t get high rating go reroll” is crazy. Tournament realms where you can create any character and have the same start could help, different rewards like spell effects or something that makes players stop and stare in awe. There is no one solution, but I think lowering the barrier for entry would help a lot, the question is how.

Just sharing my experience with TBC, and WOTLK pvp (the original, not classic). I remember being basically like 13-14, a bunch of my friends and I would find and share pvp videos from various creators (Agramon, Akrono, Vurtne, Noone, etc) and at least on the more populated servers, if you parked your character near the arena master, or outside Org, there were hundreds of people around dueling, queueing etc. It felt like the best players couldn't be touched, if you ran into them or their alts in the arena it was almost guaranteed to be a loss, and watching a duel between a top gladiator DK and gladiator frost mage was just this mind-blowing battle between gods. That being said, I wouldn't doubt the skill floor and skill ceilings today would be much higher, that tends to happen with pvp games across the board, but it didn't feel like skill was lacking, at the top level anyway. Also does anyone remember that private server that went up in like 2015 that was just WOTLK PvP, and it had thousands of players? I think it might have been Warmane but I can't remember. It always felt like WOTLK was the golden age of arena to me (except shadowmourne, lets be honest that thing had no place in pvp lol), granted I haven't played the newer seasons so my bias is showing But I was just a scrub hovering around 1800-2k, so what do I know - you could ask Swifty though, he was around back then and already making videos I think

PvP has such an insanely high skill floor the moment you exit the 1200-1600 range. Not even 1800. The population just gets exponentially smaller and as someone who recently tried to learn it, the learning curve is SO daunting that I can't imagine ANY new player of WoW would care to learn it. I tried for two entire seasons and I struggled despite having played WoW for 14 years on and off. Ban all the add-ons. Simplify the move pools. Make pvp more accessible overall, even if that means lowering the skill floor and even the skill ceiling. Otherwise the continued consolidation of competitive pvp will continue. Pretty soon 2100+ will just mostly be the same fifty players and their ten alts they use to sell carries.

So I've been stuck at 1900 on my Frost Mage ( in Shuffle ) since the start of the expansion. But this season, and we're only starting the 2nd week, I have just hit 2100. I don't know if it's me or the MMR or whatever is going on, but I'd hate for Blizzard to have just changed a number on a spreadsheet and now I'm doing well. Kind of cheapens the experience.

wanted to throw this experience in the ring, I have a group that plays consistently and its been fun in the sense we are improving and such but the meta comp stuff is super real. We genreally like to play classes that we play alot atm our comp is Sub Rogue (me), Disc Priest, Unholy DK. While we are having fun it is super easy to see why new players don't jump into. One person in our group is completly new to WoW pvp we convinced him to play. And generally we pvp alot in other games are climb pretty high in those games. And after playing a bunch of matches, some stuff does need to change. The micro CC is insane. Its one of his biggest gripes and i totally get it. When you are playing a 3's match and you get picked to be the guy the other team decides to cycle their cc's on feels super bad. Some of it really needs to be toned down. Addons and Macros. I think the ladder never gets talked about but there are alot of addons like weak auras and such that tell the enemy team everything you are trying to do and when you are a new player or a newer group it can be brutal when every single time you do a setup the other team gets an alert instead of making a read with idk their own intuition. The other half is macros, I also feel macros bloat up keybinds and give players inhuman ability to play. I think alot of CC would feel less brutal if players actually had to take the time to tab over and cc you then tab back rather then a macro doing it instantly. And these might not be popular opinions at all but it can be brutal for new players. Every match feels like if you make a mistake your done. It will say our mmr as a team is 1300 and the opposing team is 2000, 1900, 1800, oh here is a 1950. It feels like there is nobody in 3v3 that is a mid team. And we are not just memeing we are cycling cc, coordinating setups etc. The comptency and motivation is there. TLDR WoW pvp is very very brutal for a new group to jump into. Luckily we really enjoy the game and will work at it but we are a more stubborn group of players who have grinded up even more competitive games then wow. But its hard to log in and "just have fun" when you matches feel that way. And i understand if these are not popular opinions especially macros stuff. And i am sure plenty of git good will be there. But that is kind of the point getting good also shouldnt be a an absolute pounding every match from people 300-500 higher elo. We aren't even trying to push for glad since its our first season together but I would not expect to many new players to go through that experience. We are just fortunate we have a 3 's group and dont have to pug (cause fuck that).

Ok, I also wanted to address that story about double fury ret. 😅 Bajheera, I remember very fondly Dara Mactire as this cool PvP guild with a bunch of KZbinrs in it, and man, you know it and everyone who played back then knows that mastery fury was absurd. It was literally evaporating people, and I know it because me and my brother played it, it was completely broken and got nerfed later on, so it's not exactly 1 to 1 compared to today's class balance.

People also dont do pvp because people are so damn toxic, I've noticed it getting a little better but instead of helping players out and telling them what they did wrong they will make them feel like crap and not even want to pvp anymore or be hesitant too. It's hard to get excited to improve when you know the type of players you will run into, I myself managed to find friends when I played back in the day and we learned and pushed together I wish it was like that more often.

The higher you get the more meta comps matter, when people don't know what the fuck they're doing they don't know how to counter your comp anyway. I'd say around 2k people start having good awareness and can punish off-meta comps. This is just based on personal experience I might be wrong

100% I believe the community is part of the problem. You hit the 1800 range (solo shuffle) and you just get constantly matched with people who rage, flame, and throw matches. The cancerous hate people spew any time you make a mistake causes people to quit which further exacerbates the participation issue. I had never done PvP before DF. I picked up solo shuffle season 1 and loved it. Got to like 1850 which felt great for my first PvP season ever. Season 2 I scraped out 1800 in the second week then had a bad match where I went 1-5. It was my first time going less than 3-3 the entire season. I immediately received messages from people (who got rating bumps thanks to my poor performance) calling me r******* and telling me to just “kys” instead of playing wow PvP. So I quit for the rest of season 2 and only played enough season 3 to get the DH transmog. You want to know why people aren’t playing? It’s that shit.

What make pvps miserable for me isn't the long que times it's the amount of cc in this game especially on the pvp side that makes it unenjoyable to play you're constantly stun locked or CC'd and the game just becomes irritating and annoying to play. Like people have said PVP now has become a who can get the most cc's out first and win game. At this point I'm believing blizzard is putting pvp at the back burner and focusing a lot more on pve. Yes blizzard is doing some stuff for pvp in war within but how much? One new map and thats it so far.

once again add-ons are a major problem. GET RID OF THEM, PERIOD. LEARN TO PLAY WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT YOU OPPONENTS HAVE AVAILABLE. you folks talk about botting in PVP, add-ons are just one step below botting. 2. CC IS OUT OF CONTROL diminishing returns are worthless because they allow you to get cc'd again immediately by a diff cc. on top of that, sim returns allows you to be permanent cc'd for like a half to one sec by that same cc. what should happen is that any and all cc SHARE THE SAME DR TIMER. AND THAT TIMER NEEDS TO BE 30S TO 60S, PERIOD. 3. tale heals away from all dps classes.. warriors, mages, rogues. hybrids get low heals and that's it. I was doing ss today and watched this frost mage constantly healing himself without ice lock. what the f is that? many classes in arena are tankier than any tank yet so 3x the damage of a tank. classes like outlaw and sub rogue, both warriors, mages, warlocks, boomy, elemsham pop off the top of my head. PVP needs to be the true trinity to succeed. when you start homegenizing all the specs so every spec is a jack of all trades AND master of dps you get problems

Yeh, it's the competition you're up against at those levels. Wow is forced to put you up against those guys because there just aren't enough mid to high lvl guys on the game. The biggest issue I see is putting together a group winning the first 2 matches gaining 20 rating then getting thrown into a match against a team that’s 200 rating higher because of mmr then you lose and go down 20 rating. The MMR system sucks.

2400 is not meant to be achievable by simply participating more.. it's meant to be a 0.5% skill reward.. not a 0.5% effort reward. That doesn't mean you need to practice more, it doesn't mean you need a better comp.. it means if you're not capable of being in the 0.5% of skill, then you're on the bench. Some people just aren't cut out, that's life. If people believe that they can achieve anything, then nobody is happy about where they are on the ladder.

Why is a skinny/fat dude talking about gains all the time, was he big before and still think he has muscles left or what’s the situation here?

Most of the players are just trash in pvp theres no system that can help them.

Aaaand that´s why WoW pvp is slowly dying. Just same old players competing R1 titles year after year, till they stop playing. Dying breed, no new players going to "learn" 7 seasons to be able to compete against these og´s. They just move on.

addons and macros should be removed and i bet most of the people wont be that "good" anymore
