Here's how to make the viral baked oats from TikTok!
Ingredients
▸ ½ cup rolled or quick oats
▸ ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk
▸ ½ ripe banana
▸ 1 egg (can omit)
▸ 1 Tablespoon maple syrup (I used monkfruit maple syrup)
▸ 1 Tablespoon peanut butter
▸ ¼ teaspoon baking powder
▸ Pinch of cinnamon
▸ Pinch of sea salt
▸ 2 Tablespoons chocolate chips (I used Lily’s)
optional toppings: more peanut butter for drizzling, extra maple syrup and a splash of milk
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Blend: Add all ingredients except for the chocolate chips into a blender and blend until fully combined. Stir in 1-2 Tablespoons of chocolate chips.
3. Bake: Pour batter into greased baking dish or ramekin. Top with extra chocolate chips and bake at 350°F for 25 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
4. Serve: Let cool, top with an extra drizzle of peanut butter, maple syrup and a splash of milk and dive in.

This was actually pretty good! I omitted the egg and didn’t add any additional toppings. I only added about a teaspoon of syrup to the batter, and just used a tablespoon of dark chocolate to top before baking. I don’t love my oats super sweet. So with these modifications it was delicious! Fun way to change up oatmeal

I really love this recipe can't believe everyone is hating on it "not being healthy". "Healthy" foods and low-calorie foods are not always the same. Some people, like me, need to eat nourishing foods that are good for my body and high calorie so this recipe is perfect for me. It's also gluten free and avoids artificial sweeteners and processed sugars which aren't good for my personal digestion.

Forreal, calorie intake is not the sole indicator of a food’s nutrition content. Do people really not know this? Low-calorie does not equal healthy and high-cal doesn’t equal unhealthy. Also, do they not realize 3 600-calorie meals would be only 1,800 calories in the end, which is about what they burn in an average day? This is probably very filling, high in protein, and has a fraction of the sugar content of a bowl of cereal.

I'm not offended by the recipe. But the title is wrong, this is not baked oatmeal. It's true its not technically oat flour. Call it oat paste if you wish. This is a cake recipe. Like others have said it tastes like cake because it is... If you want cake for breakfast by all means eat cake. If you make this recipe that's what you will get. Now if you mix these ingredients together without a blender or food processor, and bake. Then you will have baked oatmeal.

Mmm not really. There is no butter and only a tiny bit of maple syrup (low sugar) so it’s definitely healthier than cake. If you consider the chocolate chips on top optional, then it’s actually not a bad breakfast (egg, oats, banana, peanut butter- lots of good stuff).
@matchingchong
@matchingchong 3 жыл бұрын

@@matchingchong Calorie dense does not equal unhealthy. Natural peanut butter has lots of healthy fats and protein. And she used like 1 tbsp of maple syrup... @@Appaddict01 Yeah, people put all KINDS of stuff in their oatmeal. But I've honestly never heard of anyone eating it just plain. So why people think it's healthier than virtually the same ingredients baked into a cake is BEYOND me. People apparently just have trouble thinking outside of the box I guess. In SOME cases, I kinda wonder if they actually think at ALL.

@alissamedvedeva5614 2 жыл бұрын
@@juliebaker6969 I think the reason you didn't hear much about eating plain oats is because they aren't a good topic for conversation. People definetly eat those plain (I do sometimes and my dad does it all the time), it's just there's nothing... creative about it. Anyway, oats ARE more healthy than cake because oat (including flour) has a lower glycemic index than white or even whole wheat flour so that keeps blood sugar low and you not feeling hungry for longer!
@juliebaker6969
@juliebaker6969 2 жыл бұрын
@@alissamedvedeva5614 I know about wheat and the glycemic index, Since I'm a diabetic that controls my glucose levels with food alone (with some help from vinegar, sweet potato, and cinnamon that is). And before you say it; yeah I know exercise could help, but I'm physically disabled and so exercise is problematic.🤷 But wheat isn't the ONLY thing you can make cake from. Just about ANY grain (like oats), and several OTHER NON-GRAIN flours can ALSO be made into cake. Yeah, not ALL of them have a tender crumb and airy consistency like WHEAT cakes (due to lack of gluten), but you CAN get a lighter airier consistency with tricks like using whipped egg whites to add volume. The point of this video was to eat healthier while also really enjoying the taste. If you want healthier options use PB2 powder which is sugar and fat free while being low on calories. Then just leave out the maple syrup and chocolate chips, maybe go just egg white if you don’t want all the fat that comes with the yolk. Additionally you could add protein powder. Making these adjustments will be healthier but not as delicious, which was the whole point. It’s about progress, not perfection. The only diets that work are ones you can sustain so this is a great treat to incorporate.

@@miriamschiro8585 or I just don't choose to get triggered over someone calling a cake made with oat flour baked oats because I realize there are things that are more important? And what about my statement implies my opinion on food? I was talking about how these comments are literally being rude for the sole fact that she's calling oat flour baked oats. If you don't see a problem with it, that speaks more to your character than mine 💁🏽‍♂️

@@bassunderscoreharmonic6689 I’m not looking for a problem with it so I won’t see that but I was only commenting on your last sentence; you gave your opinion on what’s food when you said “it’s food”

@@miriamschiro8585 It's classified as food. The items used source their nutrient value originally from the ground and the sun. The items also provide us the ability to metabolize carbohydrates, fat and protein so we can maintain energy. It's food and that is not an opinion. I never said it was good or bad. Your response only further proves my point that society will get so bent out of shape over food.
