I see Baker's at Walgreen's all the time but I pass it up for KC SB 9yr. The bottles they have right now are 8 yrs. 11 months too. Maybe I'll grab one.

Great job! Baker’s 7 is so much better to me but I really like both. My Baker’s that I just killed was 7 yr 3 months and very good. My next bottle is 8yr 9 months and I’m looking forward to trying it!

First of all, I'm a Baker's 7 junkie! I love my Baker's 7 with that awesome cherry note. I just did this blind on a recent purchase of KC 9 and B 7 (8 yr. 11 mos); The KC 9 won! However, the B 7 won on the nose for me. I'm not believing this. Thanks Jason for doing this video. They are both so good, blending them together is exceptional. Cheers!

Agreed on your base points Knob Creek 9 is a very good bourbon and a great value. Baker's 7 IS a better product that is worth the extra $$ IF it's worth it to YOU. Knob Creek 12 is my favorite KC - and the best overall value period ( in my opinion ) Cool match-up would pit the Bakers 7 @107° against the Knob Creek 9 single barrel reserve @ 120°. About the same $$.- single Barrel vs single barrel BUT of course this would depend almost entirely on the quality of the single barrel of each bottle. Still be an interesting one.

I agree. The KC9 Single barrel at 120 proof would be a great matchup. It is readily available here for 49. Store picks are closer to Bakers price wise.

The last two bakers I’ve got have been 8+. And I’ve been pretty happy with the $60 price point. It’s not one that gets talked about very much but it’s a very solid pour

I've been a Baker's fan for a while. I was actually sipping an 8 year 10 month Baker's when I saw and clicked on this video. I always have it on my shelf. No regular Knob Creek but the single barrel Knob Creek is always there.

2 years back my local liquor store had a case of the same barrel that was amazing...cinnamon, vanilla frosting, caramel and (of course )a little nutty and on the finish more cinnamon. I went through 4 bottles. A year later and another case, l bought 2 and was disappointed to the point l gave the second bottle away...single barrels, you just never know but still worth the crap shoot.

Agreed! I blinded the best Baker's bottle I've ever had against a number of my best bourbons around the same proof point and couldn't believe how definitively it won, including especially on the nose where it wasn't even close.

Man those are both really crushable too. The KC9 SiB 120p is straight yummy. Bakers 7 too. That bottle had no business being that good. Def backup before it’s gone.

That's really funny. I just bought a fresh bottle of Baker's today. 8 years 10 months old. I love it. Knob Creek 9 is a steal at $35, but not in the same league with Baker's. If you want to go toe to toe, Knob Creek 12 year is a way better match up. Thanks Jason.

I once blinded Baker's against my very best bourbons at the time (and no, that doesn't include unicorn bottles like Pappy) around the same proof point including Bardstown Discovery Series #4, WT Rare Breed, EH Taylor SB, and Henry McKenna 10 Yr, and I was *shocked* that the Baker's was the *clear* winner, including the nose by a *mile.* That said, I've gotten two more bottles since then (from different barrels) and have to admit that those two weren't quite as good as the first, but they were still fantastic bourbons. Plus I love the background transparency and the bottle looks cool. It's definitely earned a place on my bar.

The comparison was spot on. I have the 8 year closer to 9 and it’s creamier and longer finishing. The KC9 is more a daily pour and the bakers a Friday night thing. Both were delicious!

I just did the comparison a couple of weeks ago. The Bakers 8 yr.9 mo. really reminded me of knob Creek 9 yr. I did like the Bakers better, but it's not twice the price better. 🥃👍

I agree that when you compare Baker's 7 SiB to KC 9 it seems too expensive but when compared to KC SiB, which I think is more fair since they're both SiB, is a good value and even better when compared to Booker's. Great video Jason.

I love them both. I go back and forth when I pick these up. Either a KC9 or a Bakers. Some bakers can be amazing. Others can be ok but the KC9 is always Peanut sweet

My Bakers is 8 year 11 month just opened it. My previous bottle was 8 year 10 month once i opened it drank a touch hot but after month and half it opened up and was great😃🥃Bakers 7 is yummy plus its cool to collect all 4 caps. KC 9 is really good too. Recently the KC Rye has added a 7 year age statement

It's all about pricing and where you at, around here it's about almost $40 More NJ/NY, I can get 12-year-old cheaper than that. 7-year-old (or for same price). And like you said every batch is different. Looking forward to your rum releases.

I’ve been lucky enough to pick up 3 bottles of Baker’s, and never for a moment would KC 9 approach any of them. All have been over 8 years….have a 7 year 10 month that’s next. Not saying KC 9 is bad, because I like it, too!

Yup confirmed my bakers is 8 yrs 10 months I love knob creek head to head blind bakers was smoother and seem to have more depth in flavor both were fresh cracks will revisit in 30 days. Knob 12 is 10 dog hairs more the bakers by me. Next state over price for bakers and knob creek are the same. 🥃

Where I live the KC9 is $40, the KC12 is $70 and the Baker's is $75. Quite a price jump for some subtle differences and shows just what a good value the KC9 is in comparison. Are the KC12 and Baker's better, well they damn well better be at nearly double the cost.

I feel like the Baker's are moving closer and closer to 9 years old, especially here in Texas. I'll always have a bottle, but I can't say the same about the KC9. I think the readably available KC single barrels hurts the standard KC9.

So standard Beam comes off the still at ~135 proof where Knob Creek comes off at ~130 (Booker's is 125) does anyone know if Baker's is a different proof? I just assumed it was same as standard Beam (so ~135) or maybe Baker's is using a different barrel entry proof, that would be more interesting IMO.
