Knob Creek 12 is such a good batched product. Like very good. But the Baker’s 13 (my bottle at least) is leaps and bounds better. I think Jim Beam has been 2023’s distillery of the year. Every premium release has been very good to great. The Baker’s 13 is incredible, the 2023 KC 18 is incredible, Little Book Ch 7 is great, Hardin’s Creek has been fantastic this year. Big W.

Great review, sounds awesome. I see secondary at $250-350 - and average price for online retailers across the US is $560. Gonna have to get lucky on this one.

I got lucky and picked one up from a mom n pop for about 170...they had one bottle on the counter, was the only one they had and had intentionally wanted to keep it for their own collection until I asked about it

I'll take 2 bottles of Knob Creek 12 every time for one year and +7 proof. Not saying that the Bakers 13 isn't a hitter, or even overpriced by today's "standards", but ECBP and Knob Creek 12 are still my 100% go to bottles Great evaluation as always JC

Excellent review, as always! I saw one of these a couple weeks ago for $300 and passed. I'd like to try it at $130 though. I'm a big Knob Creek 12 fan, and I just picked up a Baker's 7 that was 8 Years and 10 Months for $45, but I haven't cracked it open yet.

I love bakers 7. I find bottles pushing 9 years old. Only issue is price at around 65 to 70 bucks.

I was able to find this release at retail at one of the stores I support on a regular basis. Beam’s price structure is flawed, but I’m a fan of their well aged bourbons so I bought it. I saw it somewhere else at $200. That’s a pass. I didn’t buy any of the Hardin’s Creek. They retail around here for around $200. I figured this was a great substitute for $70 less. I agree that KC 12 is excellent and an unbeatable value. I don’t think it’s on par with B13. Some of the barrels might be older than 13 years and special releases usually means better barrel selection. I’m willing to pay for that. Thanks Jason! I’m looking forward to popping it open.

Forget about KC12 LOL. $144 seems high, but that's about the same price as Weller 12 and cheaper than JD12 probably. Like JD12 you can smell it from across the room. Good comparison.

Jason, when it comes to landing unicorn bottles, you must have more hook-ups than the server rooms I used to wire together. I'd love to try this Baker's 13, but I know the odds of me ever scoring one are somewhere between slim and none.

The Jack Daniels 12 is interesting because of all the hype around it. I had to try it. What I found is it wasn’t what I expected for the hype. What I did find after talking to some Jack Daniels lovers that comparing what Jack offers this is the best of what Jack can be. So with that being said the can appreciate it that much more.

I'm actually good with knob Creek Single Barrel Saw one yesterday just a little under 10 years for $48. Is Baker's 13 was priced at $99, I might be able to talk myself into it. At $129 and up, nope.

Even with inflation, bourbon should not be $10/year. The 12 is priced right. ECBP is not $10/year even at higher proof. Just doesn’t cost that much to age even with Angel’s share. My JD 10 wasn’t $10/year. We pick up Eagle Rare 10 regularly for $45ish. Would like to try it, but would not pay over 90-100.

Baker's 7 bottles vary in age. Mine is 8 yr 7 months. Assuming the same logic applies to Baker's 13
