6:28 I have a question about the dough hook. Why does my dough travel up the hook to the top? How do I prevent this from happening?
@BakerBettie2 жыл бұрын
That's totally normal. Just keep scraping down the bowl and hook every once in a while. You may also need more flour if your dough is too wet.

What is the ideal ratio for Instant Yeast to Flour?
@Sami_Leah_Rod2 жыл бұрын
Can you please tell me what (separated) means in a recipe. Like the ingredients call for 16oz half and half (separated) and 4oz sugar (separated). I’m not sure what that means. Thank you!
@BakerBettie2 жыл бұрын
Hi! In this example, it means that 4oz is the total amount of sugar you need for the recipe but you will only use a portion at a time. So (as an example) you may use 2oz during one part of the recipe and the other 2oz for a different part. I hope that helps!

I'm sorry I'm still struggling to understand the question. My oven only opens one way and I'm not familiar with ovens that you can open multiple ways. Are you asking if you need to turn the temperature up or down? If the cake is overbaking you would want to turn the temperature down or bake it for less time.

What is proofing??
@BakerBettie3 жыл бұрын
Proofing refers to the final rise a yeast dough goes through before it is baked. Sometimes the word proof is used interchangeably with the word fermentation because it is a continuation of the fermentation process.

Room temperature?means what?
@BakerBettie6 жыл бұрын
Hi Rosalie, good question. In baking, room temperature refers to a comfortable temperature around 70 F (21 C). If you live somewhere that is very warm then your actual room temperature may be too warm for when recipes call for "room temperature" and you may have to leave it out for a shorter period of time or pop it back in the refrigerator for a few minutes before using it. Hope that helps!
