@@UpFlip not the same though. The man in this video didnt build the business and with that cary the risks of starting a bakery business. Plus in many moments you talk about “starting a bakery business”. This video is not about starting a bakery business. Its about buying an already running business. I own a 20+ unit pizza chain. In 2022, one of our long-time employees, Gordon, explained that he was working on a sourdough and asked if I would support him in getting his bread to the local Farmer’s Market. He needed use of my dough plant/equipment (and importantly, our Board of Health permitting). I offered use of our dough plant and a little expertise and voila, Gordon’s in business. He’s been at it for over a year and makes good money. It’s a lot of work-don’t be fooled-but he bakes 80-100 loaves each Friday and sells out at two Farmers’ Markets in neighboring towns every week, for $8/loaf. That’s a great side hustle; it’s actually awesome. Lessons 1: Gordon loves baking bread and he put in the time to study & hone his craft; Gordon’s sourdough is the best I’ve ever tasted. Lesson 2: He offers variety, San Fran, German Rye, Whole Grain to keep his Customers hungry for his product. and he’s got the stamina to do so (he’s 65 yrs old) to do so week after week. He loves what he does. Lesson 3: He started small, almost no capital outlay (>$2,000) and he’s immediately profitable. As our Baker above explained, the cost of sourdough raw ingredients is 15% of the retail price of his product. THAT leaves a lot of profit. BUT it’s a lot of his labor, it’s a 8-12 hour day of mixing, proofing, baking. Then he drives around, sets-up his tent and sells-out (typically in > 2 hrs). THINK about what you love, what ‘you can bring to the table’ and think ‘outside the box’ on ways to produce and get it to your Customers efficiently. Good luck!

a full bakery set up you can get to start with for 15000. depending of course like he said how big your bakery is. but for a smaller bakery to start with 15000 for second hand or third hand equipment and 1500 for ingredients is enough. industrial bakery ovens are extremely expensive like cars because they are heavy heavy heavy duty ovens and you can still use them in 100 years. im happy for him, nothing makes you more awake in the morning than knowing you're waking up to do what u love. but getting bread customers for wholesale is not as easy as it sounds when he talks about it. bread is a food basic and most shops are already selling bread, which means they already have a supplier. so its not easy to convince a shop to let a supplier go who probably delivered and supplied them bread for many years and to take now bread from u.

I heard that some of the family members would just eat at the restaurant and not help out. My mom told me she felt this was not right and it was affecting the business.
