BALABAC ISLAND PALAWAN - The Philippines Last Frontier (Amazon Jungle?)

BALABAC ISLAND IS THE SOUTHERN POINT OF THE PHILIPPINES LAST FRONTIER HERE IN PALAWAN!
On this day we adventure from Buliluyan Port and make our way to the southern most Municipality of this Province. We had no plans, but certainly that didn't stop us from connecting and fully immersing with this amazing community. This video is a look at local Balabac Island, and the center of the Municipality. We eat at carinderias, ride tricycles, make friends with locals, setup our hammocks for sleeping, and end up on an amazing boat ride to one of the most spectacular mangrove areas I have ever seen!
Although... there are lots of crocodiles around! So one needs to be careful, especially early morning and late evening! A local look at our first day in Balabac. And an epic adventure into a crocodile mangrove jungle... certainly getting Amazon vibes from it!

Loved it there , just went in New Year's. Everything was closed. Our hotel was right across the street from the one place that was open for all-night Karaoke. Sleepless night prior to going to Onuk Island. We'll go back just not on New Year's !!

The way you kept heading south, I was expecting you to follow in Kumander Daot's footsteps and jump over to Sabah in Indonesia, down to Tawau, and then along the Sulu islands back to Zamboanga. Balabac seems like a lovely island.

It’s fascinating to me that everyone in Palawan speaks Tagalog now. My mum grew up in Palawan and that time they spoke cuyunin. Now I struggle to find anyone who speaks cuyunin!

Americans picked Rizal as National Hero to pacify the PInoys. His statue is well dressed and usually carrying a book. They chose him over the more popular Bonifacio who is commonly depicted as carrying a bolo to fight. They mandated every town to put up a statue of Rizal. Great change will be coming soon to Balabac, it is among the new EDCA sites where the US will be building new naval and air bases to secure tje West Philippine Sea.
