Mr. Causey explains how to balance a chemical equation based on conservation of mass. Mr. Causey first writes a chemical equation from scratch then balances the chemical equation to account for the conservation of mass. You need to have your periodic table and a list of polyatomic ions to help determine names and formulas.
If you are looking for some kind of magical solution, it's not here. You must know how to write chemical formulas and chemical equations if want to understand chemistry.

Is there anyway you have more practice examples of balancing equations? Your videos have really helped I started the beginning of the semester with a 44 now I am at an 80. Thank you for taking time to do this and break jtdown. Makes it so much easier for us who need a little more understanding of the concept.

The PO4 and (PO4)2 are part of the compounds. You don't balance the compounds you balance the equation. The left side must have the same elements as the right side just in a different arrangement. Once the compounds are written don't change them. You can only change the coefficients.

Hi. Thanks for this very helpful video. I have a concern by the way, when you say "HOH" it should be written as " H2O " as in water. Right?

Hi, I would just like to know if we just leave "PO4" and "(PO4)2" as they are? Are they considered balance? (This is from the last practice problem)

what is the HOH if it's not H2O what is it ? and for the previous video H2 +O2 --> H2O +E isn't it supposed to be OH + O2 --> H2O +E bec water forms from hydroxide and oxygen ??

+Shaymaa M. Mostafa HOH is another way to write water especially in organic chemistry and acid/base. Water is made from hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. OH doesn't exist except in solution.

HOH is another way to write water. OH is not an element or a compound, it is a polyatomic ion. Water is synthesized from hydrogen and oxygen.
