I first got a bottle of this bourbon in 2020, aaannd I did not like it....until I got down to the last 1/3 of the bottle. After finishing it, I got a second bottle of it and it is now a favorite! The lesson is: when trying a new whiskey, give it time, study it, and be patient before making your final decision.

Just got this for $28+ tax. Been on my list so long. Rewatching this while drinking along. I wish I got 2 bottles. A store 2 hours away had it. Stores near me carry all Balcones main line except this. Its delicious and so worth every penny.

I'm finding Balcones labeling and website confusing! I just purchased a Balcones Single Malt Pot Distilled with a black colored label with gold and white letters, and in small letters at the bottom states Pot Distilled.It's 106 Proof.On their website they show other Pot Distilled Whisky with different labels but not the one I purchased just two weeks ago with a bottling date of 3.12.19 on the back label. Not really liking the flavor also but hope it opens up a little after it oxidizes for a bit!

Great review dummies! I picked up a bottle over the weekend. Very flavorful and rich. This is a great addition if you are looking for something unique that's inexpensive ($27 in Austin) and packed with flavor. Grammar Nazi alert...Whiskey "Claus"....I like it!

I was eyeing the whisky isle and my sister pointed this one out because it had the "master distiller of the year" award... i gambled on it... and damn it so complex and unique ill have to put it through some tests... lol. I got this with a Manhattan beer plutonium witch is a Texas porter with real toasted coconut. sooo gooood.

Hey Guys: Not sure if I sent my notes, but I bought my second bottle today, because the first went too fast. I really like this and I would agree that it has a unique character; different than other bourbons. Here are my impressions: SLÁINTE Mike BALCONES Texas Pot Still Bourbon 9/19/21 Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 2 years in new charred oak in the Texas climate. 46% ABV, NCF, Distilled in Pot Stills, 4 Grain Mashbill (Corn, Wheat, Rye and Barley) Less than 1/2 the bottle left, so air has certainly mixed with the spirit. COLOR: Mahogany Beads clinging to the glass NOSE: Unidentifiable rich modestly sweet note PALATE: Rich pleasant unidentifiable note, with a rich creamy mouthfeel. Mild pepper spice rises as I swirl it. FINISH: Very creamy going down with very mild pepper and a creamy coating mouthfeel. With 1 drop of spring water NOSE: Slightly sweeter note but very similar to Nose neat PALATE: Dry sense on arrival, but greatly similar to Palate neat. There is a dry note though. FINISH: Spicy going down; then drying With 2 drops of spring water NOSE: The same unidentifiable pleasant note with a bit of a sharp edge. PALATE: Almost identical to the Palate with one drop of water, but with a touch of alcohol burn. A dry sense as I swill it around. FINISH: Very Spicy and drying with a sandpaper dryness on my tongue. Wow, this is a very consistent bourbon with almost no variation from neat, but I loved the uniqueness of these notes and the richness of the mouthfeel. This is the first whiskey that had a mouthfeel in the Finish for me!! The 4 grain mash bill gives this a unique flavor IMO. Go out and get this bourbon!!!

Very very interesting review. I can find this by me for $30 and it is $4 cheaper than my favorite 4 Roses SB and a hair cheaper than my other fav Evan Williams SB. I may have to give this Balcones a try now.
