It has been 4 years since I was last in Russia and I am missing it. I get all excited when I over hear people accidentally speaking Russian. Living in a foreign country I feel it can be hard to make friends with the locals, especially now that I am getting older. I also found this with my Russian and Ukranian friends. They can feel quite lonely abroad if they do not have other Russian speaking friends to hang out with

Maybe the experience is different if you live in the US or Canada but certainly in UK or Australia one can feel a little isolated. People are polite here, but hard to build deep friendships

I love history and exploring abandon places.Where I live, there is a abandoned Farmhouse that was built in the early 1900s. I love exploring the home and imagining what life was like living there. There is also all kinds of abandon farm equipment and other cool things left over in the barn. it is fascinating to think that at one time a family with children lived there.

What I do like about the guy is how he connects with people in a friendly way so easily, and I admire his knowledge of the Russian language. I tried to learn 30 years ago, but gave up because the grammar is way to hard for me.

i heard him explain how he learned and basically he doesnt really know how to read Russian. maybe he got better at it now. but he mostly focused on speaking it and not reading or writing it. last video i saw of his he asked a question about his ticket and the russian guy asked if he was dumb and he just said "no im english i cant read russian" lol. also he kind of knows enough russian to get by. so sometimes he will say things and the person he's talking to can sort of understand what he means or wants but it might be like when a foreigner with not much experience with English would sound like. so a missing word or not the proper way to say a phrase but its close enough to where you know what they mean.

Reading Russian isn't really all that difficult, I can do that, but knowing what the words mean, That's the difficult part 😉 and the weird grammar...oh and the fact that spelling and pronunciation are not necessarily logical.

Hi , you mainly focus on vocabulary , the simple words and basic grammar . You can easily manage . Also russians dont speak as fast as spanish . I am learning both russian and spanish and as an english speaker finds both amazing but russian has a special place as i never found it tough . Even the cases and verbs of motion . Spanish i had some stuck areas but both are my favorites . Restart learning and i can suggest 2 amazing teachers from russia who can really make learning a breeze .

Bald goes to little towns all over the former USSR It's clear that the infrastructure is not being maintained since the collapse of the USSR. These little towns are dying a slow agonizing death. Lots of abandoned buildings. Terrible roads.. It really is quite sad. It's clear that the USSR, in its time, was a well oiled machine......no matter what anybody thinks of it. You can experience slowly dying towns all over the rural USA.too. The reasons may be different, but the results are exactly the same.

He was recently living in Ukraine. If you watch the channel Johnny FD which bald and bankrupt frequently costars on as they are great friends you actually watch them flee Ukraine as your country bombs Ukraine. It’s one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen. Slava Ukraine!

For us in the west, there is the perception that in Russia, the big cities like Moscow and St Petersberg are very modern but when you go to smaller cities, that it is very different. Also, for me, 59 years old, the countries in the former Soviet Union and so called eastern European bloc, in which Bald travels, was and is somewhat mysterious. The good news is that people are folk no matter where you go and these video's are fascinating. I always look at the comments especially from the natives of the area and if they write in their cyrillic script, you can always cut and paste to google translate to get the gist of what they are thinking.

I love the UUSR (CCCP) and would love to travel to all the places that bald and bankrupt has been. I have given myself 2 years to learn Russian, then I would be off for 1 to 2 years traveling to every corner of the USSR (CCCP). I have been to every corner of Europe, studies and travelled throughout the US, but the ultimate destination I have dreamed about since I was 11 years old is the USSR (CCCP). Its my number bucket list, bald and bankrupt and Eli from Russia takes me to all the placers I dream about.
