Bald Eagle Nest Slides Out Of Tree

Heavy rains at the National Arboretum in Washington DC are believed to have caused a good portion of the nest of bald eagles Mr. President and V5 to deteriorate enough to slide out of the tree. Luckily the bald eagle residents were not in the nest at the time, but our dedicated volunteers caught the moment on the nest cam.

Otherwise, that would’ve been a heartbreaking loss for Mr. P & especially TFL, as V5 hasn’t laid any Eggs here yet. So, I’m glad that the Nest was empty, when this happened. 😀

Actually, AEF has repaired and strengthened this nest once before early in the cam history. It would be wonderful if it could be done again quickly. This location is gorgeous and so iconic to viewers who have been here from the beginning with Mr. P and TFL.

I totally agree with you. It would be awesome. About 14 hrs ago, 1:00 pm eastern time. On Thurs. One of them was perched in the tree. Not the nest cam but the other one. I was worried that they gave up completely.

Mr P. Will rebuild again. Bigger, Better, Stronger. I miss TFL so much. My heart is still with them. This was my first Live Cam back in 2014. I was part of the contest for the selection of baby names in 2015 I think. I will have to check my saved videos. I think it was Liberty & Freedom but not sure at this moment. Do you know where TFL is ? Seems like I read something recently that she has been seen with a new mate too. No matter the outcome of both of them, I pray that they find happiness & bring us more Happy, Healthy Babies to Fall in Love with once again. 🦅🦅❤❤🙂🙂🙏🙏

Mr. President had to do two rebuilds in 2015 and 2016 so he's got plenty of construction experience 😄. Have to see what he and V5 do when they're both there this fall.

I mean, it’d be nice if someone in the AEF Company came by & fixed the Nest for them, which’d then save Mr. P’s & V5’s work on it, as then all what Mr. P & V5 have to do next is to mate & hopefully have V5 lay the Eggs later on & become a first-time Mother, if the Eggs successfully hatch without any interferences, like what happens a little more often at West End with Thunder & Akecheta due to those pesky Ravens, in which I hope that things go successful for those 2 this Season & that Akecheta would have a chance on becoming a first-time Father.

Heck, if I was to say something like that, I’d rather not & I’d be more nice about it, as I’d say that I hope that Mr. P & V5 would return soon, but if they end up being somewhere else from now on for the Future Seasons, then I’d wish them both safe travels, hope to see them again in the Future, & especially see what the new Bald Eagle Couple would come by to live at this Nest. It’d also be surprising if 1 of the Eagles in the new Couple end up being the return of TFL, especially with her new Mate.
