I was recently recommended this clip of the twitch streamer Trainwreckstv discovering he was going bald for the first time. It was exactly how I reacted to finding out I was balding. That got me thinking that maybe it is the exact same for every guy and I thought I should touch on this topic as the original video was such a text book example of how it feels.
To sum up this video, finding out you are going bald for the first time hits you like a train (no pun intended) but we all move on from it and are stronger for the experience ✊.

I remember being in a queue in a clothing store waiting to pay. I looked at the TV screen above the counter, showing everyone in line. I remember trying to find myself on the screen and thinking "im somewhere near the bloke with the bald patch.....oh...hang on...SHIT!" I was so devestated that I left the queue and put the items back and headed straight home. It's a horrible thing at the time but I can honestly just laugh about it now.

I noticed how bad mine was when I was at a bar getting a drink, I saw myself on the security camera monitor, behind the bar, my heart sank, I new I was thinning but on the monitor I looked totally bald. I felt suicidal when my hair started going, at the age 27, I was an hairstylist, and have always cut my own hair, people used to say how nice it was, and how the fuck did you do such a good job at the back of your head? Lining it out and tapering it etc. At that time I would of literally had one of my arms amputated if it could of saved my hair, now I think how crazy that sounds. I'm glad I didn't have that option. 💪

It's not really about realizing that you're getting old, it's more about realizing that the cards you've been dealt are shit and there's nothing you can do about it. You're losing a way to express yourself, a part of your identity, and it sucks when you've been used to having it for the majority of your life.

I noticed my receding hairline when I turned 17, I always had pretty thin hair and my hairline went from baby hairs to non existent. This never really bothered me but about 6 months ago i went to the barber shop and the barber asked me if I wanted something done with the bald spots on the back of my head, from that moment on I started to wear hats, even when it was 30°c outside because I couldn't control how the hair there looks and I was always aware of this. I started to hide from situations in which photos might be taken because my receding hairline really started bothering me. Now I'm 23 years old, just discovered your channel and shaved my head today because I'm bingewatching your videos and I'm feeling great.

@dflosounds
@dflosounds Жыл бұрын
@@algo2957 I started shaving my head right around when I moved into NYC. Having gone to many, many social meetup groups and singles events, I can confidently say that my shaved head has played in my favor with the ladies. You'd be amazed how likable you become in group settings after cracking a quick joke about your bald head (my favorite is to ask, "how's mine?" any time someone compliments someone else's hair). Everyone I've dated since living here has told me that they love the look, too. At the end of the day I really think it's a confidence thing. Some ladies like the look, and some don't, much in the same way that they like/dislike any other hair style. As far as how family/friends treated me after taking the plunge, there was a small period of adjustment and mild surprise, then...it was pretty much business as usual. As cliché as it sounds, the most noticeable difference I felt was how I treated myself.

6:53 That guy has basically zero recession, not even a mature hairline. The minute our hair enters our mind, we think we're losing it. I spent the last month panicking about my crown until my hairdresser of eight years said "That's just a cowlick, mate. They always stand up so your scalp is more visible because of it." I'll admit it was stupid of me to worry about my hair when nothing's happening to it, but when you go your whole life not thinking about it, the minute you do it sends into a panic.

I just think you have to accept it as a reality in life. I am seeing my facial appearance at 28 change too, so it's like whatever for me. Your whole body starts changing in appearance from your mid 20s. By 22, you already look much older than you did at 18, it is what it is. This whole desire to hold onto youth is what's causing people to be so unhappy. The second I felt I was looking less attractive, I went out and got giant hipster glasses and it's freeing because I would have never considered glasses in the past. I am in a "fuck it" stage and really don't mind. Most of the people who say things like "I used to have so much hair" were already balding pretty severely when they refer to copious amounts of hair.

When I was 20 I went to get a haircut and the lady stylist pointed it out to me that I had some thinness just beginning in the crown area. It was the way she said it that bothered me which was "Oh! You're starting to lose your hair!" and I'm thinking "Gee thanks. I'm only 20." Good thing was that my hair didn't really start to go until I was about 25/26, and now I'm 36 nearly 37 with still "enough" hair on my head on the top, but very thin and spread out. I was cutting my hair down to a 1 or a 1/2 last year and the year prior and lately I've been going with a 2 or a 3. I've been cutting my own hair for two years now, and my daughter wants me to go back to cutting it very short to around a 1 or a 1 1/2 because she likes the way that looks on me.

I was 24 and had long hair and got it cut short. When I got home from the barber, I took a bath and when I got out, I noticed an unusual amount of hair in the water. Didn't think to much of it, until I put on my glasses and looked into the mirror and realized that you can see the top of my head through my wet hair and you never could before. I was like "Oh shit". It was diffuse thinning, but I lived with it for like 5 months because it looked fine, but it kept getting into my head so I buzzed it off and have been bald ever since.

I was 21 when I first noticed it. I step out of the shower and looked in the mirror and thought "Since when did I have a widow's peak?" I knew my days with hair were numbered and decided to enjoy it while I could. 2 years later at 23 I'm once again looking in the mirror and my hair is so thin at the top I can see the scalp. I knew what I had to do and shaved it all off the next day and never looked back.

For me it started at 16. I have very long hair for a male (like 2 foot),but when it was shorter, around shoulder length, I would look in the mirror and take pictures of my hair when it was very thick. Around December 2021, I noticed it got thinner around the crown and looking back at old pictures, my part was now much more prominent, my hairline was weaker and further back, and my hair is overall much thinner, mainly on top. It really sucks because I loved my hair and still do. I’m not ready to go bald while I’m still in highschool. I’m only gonna be a junior this year. The worst part is that I’ve been wanting to get help since February or March, but nobody was taking my insurance so the soonest I could get was October this year. Hopefully I can at least slow it down and get an explanation why I’m losing it so young and so rapidly.

I'm soon 27, I've always been thorough with how I style my hair and I started to notice that my hair fell down different if that makes sense. I also saw that the hair where my temples are at grew out much slower, so almost ceasar haircut but longer over all. I then started to look in the mirrors alot, saw that it's thinning on top (compared to the sides). Looked at older photos and could see that my hairline had gone back 1.5cm since 4 years ago, "but that could be mature hairline" I said to myself. I then posted pictures onto r/bald, where they comfirmed that I have receding hairline and thinning. Yesturday I went to the barber and buzzed short with a fade and it feels really nice! I feel good about myself! The barber also confirmed that it's thinning aswell as my friends when I sent pictures.

Happened to me with headphones too, just a line of pure skin. Sure the more i wear them the more extreme it looks, but it's definitely happening Started taking pictures, i also tried parting it with my hand to make it look even worse than it is.

How come most of them didn't start taking finasteride and dutasteride during Norwood 4 ? And why ? I'm 23 and almost norwood 3, I started using minoxidil and dutasteride. I explained my regimen in my channel

Norwood 4 is too late man, Fin can regrow hair but it isn't a miracle drug, it can't regrow a NW4+. Unless you are diffuse that is, then Fin + Minox can thicken it up nicely. I took Fin as soon as I started badly shedding @ NW2 and it allowed me to keep all my hair. I think Baldcafe didn't ever even consider Finasteride in the first place, I think he used a few quack topicals but obviously they are all bunk. I think a soon as Baldcafe got over the intial few days of being angry, he just accepted the shaved look and that was that. I think he might not have even known much about Finasteride? or considered it one of the treatments that don't really do much? I know loads of guys who totally lose their hair and they don't know anything about Fin at all. Amazing to think that £30 a year worth of Fin can keep your hair. I spend £30 a year on my Fin and look at my pic it shows I kept my hair. And if Baldcafe had gotten on Fin right at the start I bet he would have been a thick NW2 right now. But of course if he started Fin + Minox now, he would regrow some hair but I don't think he would get a full head back at this stage, he is too far gone. Also Balfcafe has the more sharper, masculine face and that works well with a bald head. For me I have a chubby, round face, that would look terrible bald like a fat round potato. That is why I had to jump on Fin no matter what.

@@mikesully110£30 on Finasteride a year? I’m assuming you’re in the UK like me, where do you get the finasteride from? You can get fin for like £10 a month here but £30 a year?!
@mikesully110
@mikesully110 3 күн бұрын
@@Bob17690 I got it from a clearweb Indian pharmacy, it's been a few years (because I stocked up on loads) so I forgot the actual name but I'm sure reddit can point you the right way - it's Fincar 5mg so I cut them up into quarters, and I only take a 1.25mg every 2 - 3 days as well, so I stretch it out more than most. But I spent about £100 on a bunch of blister strips of Fincar and it's lasted me almost 3 years with another year to go. Honestly this day and age I'd prob just go for the UK stuff and pay the £10 a month just for the convenience and quicker shipping, but the point is if you need to you can get it really cheap. Hell even £10 a month is nothing compared to the hell and heartache of being bald. And the Indian pharmacy I was already using for tapentadol and some other stuff (but for that now I just use Telegram)

In my 20’s and early 30’s, I had plenty of hair. It’s only in my late 30’s and early 40’s have I noticed it really thinning in the crown. If I ever start to lose it up front, I’m probably going to do a buzz cut. Until then, ill rock the thin crown.

Hmmm, I've got thinning or at least thin hair, could be the length of my hair is weighing it down, and spreading them apart, making my scalp more noticeable. I've accepted that balding is a thing, and if it happens it happens. Luckily it's pretty even around my whole head.

Haha I found this on accident and I got flashbacks as well. I think I was 23 and I was gaming a lot at that time, so my first guess was also "That must be the headset, right?" Yeah turns out it wasn't 😁 I remember a guy back when I was in school who was like 18, maybe 19 who was already getting thin hair. A friend from college who was 29 at that time was almost completely bald. It's really not as bad as it feels it in the beginning. Just look for it, there are a lot of bald guys and nobody looks at them strange. Some people look really good with very short or shaved hair, and in case you don't there are still all kinds of hats. Also there are way worse things that can happen to you than losing your hair early 👍
