This is eggcellent, thank you for cheering up a wet Tuesday! 🤣Seriously, it is so quick and easy to poach eggs that I don’t know why anyone would buy them, and then still have to microwave them. As for £2 for two, that is £6 for half a dozen eggs - are they from that goose that laid the golden eggs? The world has gone mad - mad, I tell you, maaad!!!

Yes, any time there’s a product like this it’s usually designed for people who are less abled. Stuff like chopped onions or peeled potatoes and so on... they’re really good for people who would struggle otherwise. Good on Marks! Have you tried their breakfasts? They do a veggie and meat version with a poached egg, beans, etc. Very tasty, surprisingly good!

Of all the foods I eat, eggs are my absolute favourite, and I eat a boiled egg every day with crispy thickly buttered toast as part of my breakfast. I've perfected the process, for an egg with an almost set sticky yolk with a touch of runniness. Boil for 7 minutes precisely, then plunge the eggs into an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Absolutely delicious! 😋 £2 for two eggs? Daylight bloody robbery! 😲 ... Eggs have rocketed in price. I used to pay around a pound for 15 at Farmfoods, and now £2.69 for 12 at Aldi.

I cannot believe what you can find in the UK 🇬🇧! We have nothing like this in the US! I think I would like my eggs on crumpets, which are similar to English muffins in the US. Eggs here in the US, at least in New York State, are expensive! I like organic free range eggs, although I am put off eggs by the smell at times. Microwave eggs in a glass container, maybe sausage and cheese, something similar to fast food breakfast, but at home! Thinking about it, I just might try doing this myself! Although I should try making a quiche; relatively simple to make, just buy ready made crust in the refrigerated or freezer section, then poor mixture into the pastry pie, then bake until done!

I do poached eggs in a frying pan like you'd do a fried egg ..water (half inch or so ) ,salt and vinegar...flip the boilling water over the egg with a spatula etc...drain the water but guard the poached egg with the spatula as you don't want it falling in the sink .

Our preffered methos is to crack the eggs in bowl with equal part the vinegar of your choice and water leave to soak for 10-15 minutes to set the egg white. This will keep the egg whites in a tight oval around the yolks and keep them from flying apart in the poaching liquid. After the egg white has had time to set gentley use a spoon to move it to a pan of simmering water for 3 minutes. The fresher the egg the better as with all produce. Plenty of videos on youtube to show the process, take care and God bless one and all. Don't let M&$ rip you off.

Gobsmacked..... but I can understand there would be a market out there.... Personally I like my old worn egg poaching pan.... Try other methods as I might (did them in microwave while I was rushing about in morning to get to work) I return to the old pan.... Thank you for reviewing this little bit of luxury with us... They could add in some smoked salmon and a good sachet of Hollandaise, charge a fortune but be a bit more luxurious!!! .... Right now it's lunch time... Therefore home made soup and a bread roll, glass of milk.... My idea of luxury!!!

Like you, Gareth, we recently found out about Stokes sauces , by accident, when our local CoOp had run out of HP!!!! Boss lady saw Stokes, and despite the price (ouch!) bought a bottle and it really is the canines!!

Stokes sauces are the best but you’re right you can’t find them anywhere. I’ve only had them at Haskins garden centre as they have big baskets of their sachets in the cafe so I always nick a few.

One egg recepe you could try for us from M&S is the scotch eggs! Not the cheaper one but the Gastropub 2 Scotch Eggs Starter. These apparently come out runny, the other ones are hard boiled. I do like the variety of the foods you try for us and I do like a quality product now and then. Regards.

but 😂n that note, the cheaper ones come with 2 eggs too, way cheaper than these 2 eggs but with added sausagemeat for the lowly price

Good grief Gareth 2 quid for two eggs, that’s crazy. The ingredients are laughable…. All that crap for a pouched egg 🤣🤣. Thanks for sharing, hope you enjoyed the ‘eggs-periment’ 🤣🤣🤣❤️

I checked it wasn't 1st April when I saw this. For some folk I think it's a great idea, despite being a bit overpriced. Great for the less abled for example. Taking preparation and packaging into account, if M&S dropped the price even by 50p for two to £1.50, they would probably fly out the door. It's that '£1 for one egg' that seems to get people. We use Ocado and if they ever stock these would at least give them a try.

Microwave for 1 minute, stand for 2 minutes. Total = 3 minutes. Break egg into boiling water for 3 minutes = perfect poached egg without preservatives. You’re spot on about Stokes’ Brown Sauce though, in fact anything made by Stokes!

Good review Gareth,I personally won’t be buying, but I can see a market for them, shame about the price though,I was thinking £1.50 would of been more fairer for a lazy alternative cheat! 👍

Foot note to Stokes Sauces and there other products. Have tried most of what they on offer being me. Never had a bad one yet. The Brown Sauce is really the best one out there for certain. Put it on your Fish and Chips or a nice crispy Streaky Bacon Sandwich.

M&S have also started doing par-boiled water. Ideal for a quick cup of tea. Just take carton from the fridge, pour required amount into a microwave suitable container. Reheat for 90 seconds at 800W, 75 seconds at 1000W. You then have perfectly boiled water at almost exactly 100C. It’s a great time saver and always has those perfect rolling bubbles. You could try this with instant gravy. Really is a god send. Bravo M&S, 10/10.
