A Kershaw meal should not cost £2.50. It is supposed to be an affordable brand, but now it is more expensive than some supermarkets' own ready meals. For example, Asda sells its own brand of frozen ready meals for around £1.80, and Tesco for £1.60-£2.20. This suggests that they charge much more than they should for their products.

Hi Diana, if you like liver and mash, try Tesco. They do three for £7.50, I have their liver and bacon with mash and onion gravy as one of my three, the liver is tender, there’s plenty of it and a good amount of bacon and the gravy is tasty. I’m on my own so it’s not worth buying raw liver and doing my own as I have to shop on line, due to poor mobility, and the amount they sell is too large for one. I enjoy Tesco’s and there is a good portion, with a round of b&b to mop the gravy up 😋. Best wishes from Barbara.

Hmmmm. Friends of mine have a small holding and they usually raise a couple of pigs each year. Gloucester Old Spots. They had a pink one and a brown one, called 'Shakira' and 'Beyonce'. They also raised a pair called 'Salt & Pepper' and another pair called 'Peppa & George'. They were all delicious. The sausages we made from them were about 95% pork; - shoulder and cheeks. The sausages were on top of the gammon, ham, joints, loin steaks, crackling, black pudding and bacon. With pigs you can use everything but the 'Oink!' 16% pork? What on earth is the rest of the sausage? - Rusk, lips, eyelids & arseholes?

@@paulpaintshop103 , the other good thing about raising your own pigs is that you know exactly where they've grown up, how they were treated, and everything they ate. These pigs were reared outside (although they did have a pig arc for shelter) and were fed all the kitchen vegetable scraps, etc. They also got lots of acorns from a large oak tree in their paddock. A totally different animal to one raised in a pen in a shed and it showed in the quality of their meat.

In all honesty with the inflation over the last couple of years, that meal would of been about £1.25 a couple of years back. Until the price of fuel and gas/electric comes down, prices will remain inflated. Energy and fuel drives the price of everything. Every item uses energy to produce and then its transported via trucks that consume diesel at various stages of production and delivery. We are being forced to pay top dollar for utter garbage. Sad fact is that many items nowadays have aren't made out of 100% beef, pork, chicken or venison when reading the description of what the items contain. As when I checked asda's venison meatballs (cant remember if it was the extra special or regular asda venison meatballs) but it works out as something like 15% venison & the rest was made out of something like 30% beef/pork. Unsure if its just me expecting too much but when you see the supermarkets own premium product saying that its Wagu or some other meat from the usual beef/pork/chicken/turkey you should at least get an item thats only made out of beef/pork/chicken/turkey/venison & not mixed in with some other cheaper bits of meat.

Even with the naff sausage, they could have improved the meal by having the chips in a separate compartment so they crisped up when cooking. But a naff meal is a naff meal. Can't get over the fact that there was only 31% meat in them. As for the peas, did you notice it said re-hydrated peas. If they tasted OK then getting a pack of these peas alone would be great for camping.

Hi Gareth, I'm new to your channel. You never know what the algorithm will throw up. This time its a happy accident. What happier place could a Nothern English man want to be other than a channel where an other Northerner is rating comfort food. I'm from Penrith but live in Tipperary, Ireland now and while we have great food here in the Emerald Isle nothing compares to the great Cumberland Sausage or a good old Northern Pie. I can't say that I'd have been able to eat those sausages, eek! Here in Ireland fresh and chilled ready meals are polpular and most supermarket's will have a sausage dinner option with 2 sausages, mash, gravy and a veg of some sort. They're not to bad and I'd say on a different level to Kershaw's offering. Looking forward to watching your back videos. Mike

I'd get over it by combining the sausage with other elements on the plate, of course if it's not REALLY bad like tasting soapy or something
