Ya know, of all the Gods we've/Kratos has killed in the series, I think we all felt the most for Baldur. He wasn't some bully, some powerful a-hole forcing his cruelty onto mortals, he was a victim driven to maddening desperation in his search for relief from his condition, much like Kratos
@raadalba6al3 жыл бұрын
That's why Kratos confronted him about the path of vengeance. He chose this path and succeeded, yet he didn't find peace. He knew that nothing will stop Baldur from his madness. "The cycle ends here. We must be better".

Kind of feel sorry for him. I can almost relate. I was born with a condition that means I can't communicate well & during my teen years I was basically mute but most kids don't get sign language so it made things difficult. Years of isolation can do terrible things to the mind. That's why solitary confinement is such a cruel punishment. Sensory deprivation, being locked off from everything that ties you to the world except for sight & sound would be horrible. The worst part about it is his mother not only knew but caused it. Just like how everyone knew about my condition & didn't say anything or help me until I was 19 so I just thought I was crazy. And the worst part about mine was it was caused by mistakes my grandparents on my mothers side & decisions my father made that affected their bodies that eventually led to me being born with my condition. I know from that experience what kind of anger & resentment that can build over time especially when you figure out why. In my opinion the whole thing with Baldur was caused by the selfishness of two arrogant parents in Freya & Odin in the game.

no it was Odin and Freya that were the catalyst of his suffering, because freya was technically a single mother she selfishly gave her son invulnerability because she couldn’t face being alone, and in part odin has everything to do with freyas suffering, so really, it’s Odins fault for being a horrible husband and father.

Jeremy Davies portrayed baldur's story in an extraordinarily brilliant way, when he spoke in every scene as baldur, everything starting from the intensity of his voice, to the motion captured movements, he basically stole the show. and I guess that is why he won the award for best performer in BAFTA 2019 , even Christopher judge(kratos) and Daniel bisutti(Freya) were nominated but they didn't get it. All of the cast members did a terrific job though! GOW 2018 is the Best game of all time, imo!

The sad thing is I truly believe that Odin with all his knowledge would have known how to break Baldur’s spell. I think he just withheld it bc Baldur is a better weapon when he can’t be killed. Baldur was just used as a tool, in the opening of ragnarock Odin solidifies this by discussing Baldur and Thor’s sons like they were just valuable pieces in his game
