You can use Remove Curse on yourself and remove the necromancer book constitution debuff, and on its place you gain a buff that gives you 20 temporary hitpoints every long rest. Don't know if that has any further implication, I did this soon I finished that quest.

@@lafunk1978 pro lifehack for 2nd playthrough - fight him in the temple, not in shar realm. 1. Balthazar has much less goons - 1 giant, 3 ghouls and only few undead from previous encounter (depending on how that fight went but usually half to most of them die) 2. No opportunity to lose your companions by being pushed off and guaranteed loot. 3. That whole f-ing army of undead in Shar realm is not spawned. and small/funny 4. There is a funny line PC says if you get Balthazar's bell and try to use it there🙂.

There's a Spore druid specific armor chest piece you can buy from,; I think it's the demonologist lady, or maybe the sewer monk, don't remember, that really trumps any other for this subclass. It gives you a BONUS action spell that create a cloud of Haste Spore. As we know, Haste is broken in this game, and this is literally AoE haste with no concentration and no lethargy. It's beyond broken. This chest piece is literally game defining and should be the reason you play Spore during act 3.

I played spore druid as my main character in my first playthrough and I absolutely loved the class even without multiclassing. Its so versatile since you can play as a caster, summoner, melee or even support if you add 2 levels of cleric. Nice for roleplaying, nice endgame with lvl 10 class action and some sick thematic gear in act 3.

That's interesting because moon druid was super underwhelming for me while even without following a guide my spore druid is a menace. I feel like Mort is sleeping on the melee aspect a bit. I am wielding a scimitar with a torch, and my druid can keep up to Laezel in hand to hand combat. Of course having an army of undead helps. I really should look into that book for even more undead.

Zombies are secretly a stealth tool. They distract neutral npcs, so you can move them out of the way and you can then steal things at your own leisure.

Oh and the templar might be what I was looking for. I wanted to make something with the bonk. My only grievance is that my pc struggles with this many summons on the screen. Zombies, skeletons, dryads, elementals... it's unfortunate really, I really like the idea showing up and having an army for my enemies to try to deal with.

I theory crafted a similar build (can't test it because I don't have the game yet) that goes a more melee-oriented way. Race: Any Classes and progression: First level will be War Cleric in order to get heavy armor and martial weapon proficiency and then going full on Spore Druid Main attributes: Strength, Wisdom and Constitution Feats: Polearm Master to make good use of our Quarterstaff+Shillelagh; when Shillelagh damage starts diminishing the Quarterstaff can be swapped with whatever Polearm does more damage

Doesn't fully work the way it does on Tabletop, but 1 level of monk is amazing with Spore Druid. You pad your HP with Wild Shape and get to protect it with the Unarmored Defense from Monk. Hopefully they fix one of the big interactions from Tabletop, but the additional necrotic damage on your attacks from Symbiotic Entity should work with the Unarmed Strike and Flurry of Blows. For right now, though, I've been pretty satisfied with the performance of the multiclass. Feels like a nice hybrid between picking on whether to be a frontliner or to hang out on the backline with the control spells. Off the cuff, could also see Ranger working well to get a familiar and access to Sacred Flame as a cantrip. On that same note, War Cleric could also be pretty solid to get a second Shillelagh attack in infrequently while not delaying Spellcasting progression.

In Act 3 there's a character that will sell some light armor called Armour of the Sporekeeper that could be worth looking out for, for this build. I won't say who or where, for spoiler reasons, but the armor adds +1 to spell save DC and adds an extra 1 necrotic damage to any necrotic damage you deal. It also lets you put out different kinds of spores while under Symbiotic Entity that can poison, befuddle, or haste creatures. Not really the most powerful option, but fairly decent and very flavorful.

Now imagine a team of this build for Dark Urge, make Astarion a necromancer, make Lazel an oathbreaker paladin and keep Shadowheart as is. Paladins aura is going to buff unded created by you, cleric and necromancer. While necromancers undead is going to be even stonger from his subclass. Shadowheart is good enought for utility as a trickery domain. Laezel can be face. Lots of casters surrounded by undead army. This just became my evil plan...

For my first run, ran a spores 11/monk 1. Very reliable tanky guy. AC in the early-mid game was high enough that most missed and if they did hit I had the extra temp health anyway. Only complaint was that fungal zombie mechanic was dissapointing since you need human corpses (and fresh ones at that) but by the time you get the chance to use it, you're in Act 2 where most enemies are undead or shades. Physical damage was disappointing too (hoping that monk dip would help) and I didn't find much loot for him all game because of that monk "can't wear armor" part. By the end, I wound up taking an armor piece because its effects were too good to pass up.

Even though it doesn't work in the tabletop, symbiotic entities damage buff applies to hand crossbows. I've been testing a possible ranged damage build with it. I hope it's intentional and Larian doesn't change it because druid doesn't normally have any ranged weapon builds.

There is an armor sold by a certain rotting type in lower city that gives rather awesome skills to sporedruids that want to focus more on the spores then summons. And as my first main it have done well. Just put out all kind of aoe in one place and let Karlach throw anyone that tries to escape back in it ^^

That armor has to be bugged. It lets you puff out three types of spores - one being a haste spore for one turn without lethargy. In game it says that you can only do it per long rest, but you can actually do it per ROUND. Busted as all hell. Have an action, run into the cloud, have another action.

@@TheOneBearded You know the craziest part about it ? Put on the armor, cast symbiotic entity, equip another armor. You'll keep the new spells, and they don't even go away if you lose symtiotic entity and recast it. You only need to cast it with the armor again after a long rest.

one thing i did with my spore druid is to start Drow for the hand crossbow proficiency. lets you dual wield hand crossbows so you keep your temp HP from symbiotic entity and you get the necrotic damage in both crossbow attacks. you can still run a quarterstaff and shield with shillelagh for more AC and smacking people. you can get the hand crossbows probably around level 3-4 from the grove vendors, just make sure that you check their inventory every time you level a character since it resets each time and its RNG if you get them. i got lucky and managed to snag 2 +1 crossbows that way. also don't know if the chest of the mundane is bugged/fix/doesn't work with some bodies but the chest of the mundane doesn't reduce the weight of bodies for me. granted ive only just logged in and tried it with a random body from the goblin camp so it might not work with bodies that are considered stealing or the random dead guy near the waypoint.

I've been playing spore druid and enjoying it but at lvl 5, I've spec 1 lvl into war domain cleric for heavy armour and extra attacks with the war charges. It combos with the bonus dmg from symbiotic something. It's more of a melee focused role but with the large amount of extra hitpoints I've found it to be nice and tanky to let karlach to come in and smack things to death

One thing I think is kinda underrated is respec. I love playing a wizard but early game it’s mostly just shoot firebolt every round which is just kinda boring. So I ran paladin at first to just have fun with early levels and once I hit level 5 I swapped to a wizard and used the more fun spells and stuff. Kinda makes slow start classes a bit more fun.

One interesting idea with this is you could do 11 Druid levels and 1 Wizard level to be able to learn Dethrone, Circle of Death, and some other Necromancy themed spells. They would use INT for spell save DC, but with the intellect headband you wouldn’t be too bad off. Also, in act 3 you can get a staff that forces disadvantage on saves against your Necromancy spells, so there’s some good synergy there. The staff also has +2 and an extra 1d4 necrotic damage which is good for Shillelagh bashing. One could argue at that point it’d be better to just play a Necromancy School Wizard, but I like the theme of the Spore Druids’ abilities, and also I like their zombies more.

Fun spore build, thoughts? Touch of death. You mix open palm with the extra d6 of necrotic you get from your spore form. Every punch hits with an extra 1d6 necrotic and 1d4 + wisdom necrotic. Would be perfect for evil run. Get thief in there with wholeness of body for 3 bonus actions (if that works).

Personally, whenever there's an option to get heavy armor first in a multiclass i go with that and remove dexterity for strength. The jump feature is super underrated for extra mobility and exploring the land so having 14 in it and just wearing heavy armor fits better for me.

The int headband will also help you out with another roleplay aspect, as Spore druid gets detect thoughts, and although it's supposed to use your casting stat, (and even labels the rolls as wisdom in preview) the actual roll will grab your int. Has to be a bug, but until they fix it, the int band kind of patches it up.

Effective, but this seems like it would be insufferable to play, for two reasons: NPCs flee if they see any summons (as mentioned.) Summons are hopeless at traversing, often end up being left behind. Jumping a few characters across is fine, having to jump an army of ghouls on the other hand… I played Wild Shape with elemental summons (basically take all the strong pre-cast spells and then spend most of your time as an elemental) and I stopped summoning the weaker elemental just because I couldn't be arsed.

So I was reading into the lore and Jaheira originally was a druid/fighter multiclass. I was just thinking if something like this would work with fighter but focus on the shillelagh. You'd be restricted to staffs or clubs but you'd also be able to support with summons, control the battlefield and if in a corner turn into an owlbear. I was thinking 6 levels in each, druid and fighter, with either the champion or battlemaster subclass. You'd get the extra attack from fighter as well, action surge and then halo of spores for your reaction. Sounds like a lot of damage. It makes sense in my head but I don't have the game yet but please let me know your thoughts.

i've played this class and its fun lots of options etc but one thing i hate is that outside of combat your zombies and other summons make the NPC panic and run around i wish there was like a fix that made them only appear in combat or something as its really frustrating considering it cost spell slot sometimes.

This is kinda what I wanted to play on my second playthrough, Still on my first though And after discovering the equipment bonuses dont work when you transform back from wildshape I changed back to land circle after looking into my "build" when running into enemy I couldnt defeat in mausoleum, I wanted to play kind of a Green Knight build so I put one level in cleric for heavy armor, still dont feel like its the build I wanted though even after like 60 hours in act 2 maybe I need to find the right equipment, right now I am going for using lightning although I should have got Spellsparkler unfortunately I took a trident back then. and I dont have any heavy armor for poison use and poison is not in Elemental adept so that would be bad as the boss I got stuck on has poison resistance and many do have that. I wish there was more plant based stuff but then it would be negated by fire so still meh.

I tried this but Shillelagh is using CHA as a spellcasting modifier instead of WIS, once Paladin levels are added - leading to - 1 attack rolls. Any reason why this is happening? Maybe a toggle I'm missing?

I'd love to run this build for Halsin! But I'm really struggling to fit him into my party.. I'm currently a barbarian with Shadowheart, Astarion and Wyll. Wyll is currently falling off a bit for me atm as he never has anything useful to say but he's also my face character as he has charisma.. is it worth swapping him? Also do origin characters have more story relevance or will swapping not make me miss out on much? I know I can replay the game but aaaa I'm so impatient and I want Halsin 😂
