Ok, I absolutely love Baldur's Gate 3, all of it (the Glitches included, mostly because they got fixed real quick, which raised appreciation for Larian) But this song becomes a bit too much like a Disney song (a wellwriten one, but stil) , I feel. It would have been more pleasant if it JUSt stuck to the lute, or also any instrument your PC would bring in. There was no need for the accompanying instruments

Why are tieflings abolutely the most precious thing in this game? I haven't found one I dislike yet.
@AkkiLad3 жыл бұрын
@cool dude The Player's Handbook (5e) covers the topic quite well and there's a bit mentioned in Brimstone Angels (a D&D novel) too. Society mistrusts and shuns the tieflings because of their ancestry with fiends, expecting them to be evil because of it, however their ancestry actually doesn't effect their personality to any great degree. The reason a large number of tieflings end up evil is because they grow up thinking "everyone expects me to be some evil monster so screw trying to be good for these people, I will be evil". It's really quite sad.
@francismartin61413 жыл бұрын
@@AkkiLad this is because of the woke bullshit of fifth edition lmao. Sure descendants of demon have no intrinsic inclination towards evil
@nielsdejong3 жыл бұрын
I’m afraid you might be right. I love those kind of stories, but D&D is far too unbalanced when it comes to influence. I love thieflings in 5E though, but I wish they’d tone it down a bit on the woke themes.
@AkkiLad3 жыл бұрын
@@francismartin6141 Yeah, I guess they were going for the whole 'the sins of the father are not the sins of the child' thing? Also bear in mind the 'father' in this analogy is like a way distant ancestor from hundreds if not over a couple thousand years ago. 5th Edition is set later in the Forgotten Realms timeline than earlier editions so maybe as the evil ancestor blood got more diluted they became less inherintly evil? Ultimately I'd say a decent compromise would have been to say that while a tieflings' heritage doesn't make them inherently evil it does make it easy for beings from hell to find and corrupt them, either when physically on the mortal plane or with powerful devils and demons like Asmodeus and Orcus, through the dreams of their tiefling descendant. The tiefling would gain power since it becomes a warlock but this would also turn the tiefling a little more evil each night through those dreams. A literal 'the devil made me do it' and 'making a deal with the devil' kind of motifs.

It's bits like this that made me realize what I love about what Larian is doing with the tone of the game. Some among your party might dislike you and eachother, the actions of NPC's might be horrific, and the story might be initially bleak and damn-near hopeless, but there's still something worth fighting for. Moments of happiness and still joy in the heart of the storm. Plenty of reviewers have trashed the game for the tone, characters, etc., But this isn't a normal adventuring party. These are wildly differing characters thrust together by horrifying circumstances, more horrifying than any of their own pasts. Is it going to be all sunshine and rainbows when you talk? No. Will there be casualties in the way? Most likely. But that's what makes the ending where you're all working together to stop illithids worth it. Every time I see Lae'zel help an ally back up from death's door, or Shadowheart cast cure wounds, or Astarion step in front of an enemy to protect Gale, I know why the game works; the party always cooperates when the chips are REALLY down.

I haven’t played all of Baldur’s Gate 1 since I find time limit quests insufferable and insulting to my time as a player (why make an open world game if I can’t explore it because of time limit quests?) but from the small amount I have played I think Baldur’s Gate 3, tonally, is very similar to the original games. Especially the voice acting. The only difference is that this game presents more freedom of choice in gameplay by the turn based nature, making it even more similar to D and D. AKA better and more faithful to what the original games were trying to adapt.

I have my fair share of issues with BG3, specificaly with how the main story is handled and how the co-op seemingly pushes into the single player campaign, but its clear that there is an immense amount of love. This is an example numero uno, the fact you have to basically fail to discover this is staggering as she will not actually sing if you perform with her or give her good advice. I generally dislike when characters sing in a game, especially when its genuinely just live unadulatarated emotional song, so I was cringing a bit in the begining when she was humming despite her lovely voice, but god damn, when the music swelled and she started singing higher my jaw just dropped and I swear I teared up, this is an incredible song, sang incredibly, it really made me glad to have found that and to have this amazing of a surprise hidden behind such a small interaction, well, it really makes me want to see what else is there and what they have planned for hte full game.

@TheIgdrasil13 жыл бұрын
I dont think that syncopations are signature of pop. Even folklor or medieval music have syncopations. By the way this song is typical of Borislav Slavkov, composer of Divinity OS, and he also continues on tradition of Kirill Pokrovsky, who also made similar music in Divine Divinity.
@zhiqiwang13783 жыл бұрын
@@TheIgdrasil1 Medieval music may have syncopations, but a medieval bard song is usually characterized by the triplet rhythm and folk music by the irregular rhythm. And syncopation is almost a stereotype of the music of African culture from which pop music derives. @jackmarsk84593 жыл бұрын
What do you want then? A Skyrim-esque ballad that ends up sounding like a generic medieval song? I just came across this scene in my own game and I thought it was great. This felt like an emotional song from someone grieving in the context of a dark fantasy setting, not a pop Disney song. The strings and other instrument give extra emphasis to the melody while making the song overall more interesting, instead of just hearing a single lute and voice for 3 minutes. This game isn't going to be for everyone, as initial early access reviews have already shown. If it's not for you, then move on and find something else that you enjoy.

True, this song is shit, haha. Same as harpy’s song. What surprise me the most is that these two songs should be considered by a player as the most beautiful songs in the world. And the most funny moment is that these are two most lame songs in all soundtracks of BG3! People working on this part of the story did this on purpose, I guarantee...
