lvl 1: Rogue-2:Ranger-3:Ranger-4:Ranger (gloomstalker)-5:Ranger (feat: Sharpshooter)-6:Ranger-7:Rogue-8:Rogue (assassin)-9:Rogue (feat: Alert)-9:rogue-10:rogue-11:Rogue-12:Rogue. So 7 levels of rogue assassin and 5 of Gloomstalker ranger. You could take away 2 levels of rogue and go 2 levels of fighter for action surge as well. This spec here is very powerful and you always get to go first, meaning you get to sometimes kill an enemy before they even had their turn. The reason you start with rogue is for that sneak attack. if you spec into it later, you don't get it.

I think it's worth pointing out a specific benefit of the "Heavy Armour" option of Ranger Knight is not necessarily about the Chest armour (which may scuff your stealth checks), it's for helms (Grymskull), gloves and legs, etc.

You don't get any special benefit from wearing two peices of anti-crit armour and you can craft medium armour at the forge. Depends on your comp, but forging one of each kind of armour is usually the best use of the forge.

One thing to note is that odd numbers do matter for STR for carry weight. Just for QOL, I'd just change WIS from 11 to 10 and bump STR from 12 to 13. Whenever you have an extra point not doing anything, just put into STR for QOL.

Hi, I'm currently playing a similar build in Dark urge lone wolf run, I'm just starting chapter 3 I'm ranger5/assassin5. I use the Titanstring Bow with strength potion, Caustic Band, sharpshooter and dex 20 for a flat bonus of +22. For the gloves and the second ring I favor dice bonuses like the Dark Justiciar Gauntlets (+1D4 necrotic) and the Strange Conduit Ring (+1D4 psy). Because during critical hits, these dice bonuses are doubled unlike flat values. For the upgraded crit at the moment I have the Knife of the Undermountain King and the Dark Justiciar Helmet. Once Orin is defeated, I will equip myself like you, however I will keep my dark urge cloak, because it makes me invisible when killing an enemy without using a bonus action and therefore I can use my bonus action to dash and activate Lightning Charges with The Speedy Lightfeet (more damage and hit chance). I was thinking of switching to warrior2/ranger5/asasssin5 once max lvl, but your video made me want to try druid. THANKS.

Yea that sounds awesome and I really want to explore a build like this...a lot of people are sleeping on Sneak Attack - that 6d6 is AMAZING!
@Bruno-lr9lm11 ай бұрын
@@amerant0205 6D6 ain't that bad, it's 36 added damage if you hit max roll. On average you're gonna do what? 21 damage sneak attack PER turn. it's not bad but really sub optimal when you consider classes with even just 1 extra attack like paladin who can give 2 smites that mostly shit on SA or even warlock that can hit 3 beams of EB on a single target are gonna do more damage than a rogue with SA bonus damage, the mechanic has been badly integrated into this game unfortunately. i'd say some people over value the effectiveness of SA, it's a cool play style don't get me wrong, but the damage it does is okish and certainly far from impressive. Larian should do something about it, if you could do it on each attack, yeah now you're talking but per turn, hell nah, the return you get from investing all your 12 levels on this is way too poor.
@Mdntech300011 ай бұрын
No absolutely agree, 6d6 is AMAZING. In my other video you see I pretty much based my build a lot around maximizing sneak attack…it’s super underrated. It’s pretty ouch “mini smites” with no resource needed! Yea it’s one a turn…and yea it doesn’t match other ways of generating big damage, but it really gets its value by not needing any resource beside advantage compared to needing spell slots.
@Bruno-lr9lm11 ай бұрын
@@Mdntech3000 I’ve tried a full assassin rogue, no multiclass, and it was the most underwhelming experience thus far. The times I could one shot a 65 ish health enemy or just kill two enemies in one turn were kinda rare (while warlock would totally shit on SA with EB without expending any spell slots either). Yes, it’s good for hit and run tactics but I personally didn’t see the max damage of the 6D6 that often. I mostly did between 12 and 28 SA damage most of the time which is ok at best and nothing to write home about. if you fully invest all your levels in rogue just for SA it’s value ain’t that good. Just my opinion and personal experience with the class and SA in general, for me it was mostly disappointing. I, however, do like to have a character that has SA in my party because the gameplay is fun and it’s pretty useful to get rid of the squishies before the big guns (Wyll and my bardadin) go to work on the heavies and other priority targets after the first strike of the rogue. It’s a really good second in command for sure.

2 other possibilities, i stead of taking Druid, you can take 2 lvls in Fighter for Action Surge to get 1 additional atrack in, or you can take 2 lvl's in Warlock (but NOT for the reason you are thinking) so you can get Beguiling Influence and Devils Sight. (No Eldritch blasting at all!). That way, you can pop a Darkness and get perma advantage on your enemies, or a way to escape if you really need to. Another fun thi g with this build is that you are the ultimate Skill Monkey adding your proficiency bonus to 2 skills from your class, 2 from your back geound, 2 from Beguiling Influence, 1 from being human, 1 from multi Rogue, 1 from multi Ranger, and possibly 2 more from Ranger favored enemy and Natural Explorer. That is 11 skills you can be proficient in! You don't need to worry about strength for carrying and jumping in this build because you have unlimited Enhanced Leaps and being human gives you +20% carry weight, and Karlach or the camp chest for the rest.

For a level 12 character, 4 Gloomstalker Ranger + 3 Thief Rogue + 6 Fighter with double Hand Crossbows and Sharpshooter is definitely more OP than this build. If you have Haste / Potion of speed, you will have 9 shots in the first round, with 4 Superiority Die shots that deal additional 1d8 damage and will Disarm / Knock Down enemies at your will, as well as Sneak Attack damage bonus from Rogue class (you can get a ring that gives you Advantage all the time). If you start with 1 hit with a Orin weapon, that makes target get x2 damage from Hand Crossbows, you will have 8 shots left with double damage and all of the above-mentioned stuff. So in total you can deal from 300-500 damage with just 1 turn of just 1 character...

Nice build man i always wante to try rogue assassin and i never got the chance ... maybe this one will be the one :) But since you are a bow user and hate elixirs i have a different option for you that i'm using on my controller bard. there is a spacial chair on top of the arcane tower in the underdark which i didn't pay much of attention since it is on the ground like every other usless thing in that place. If you manage to make your character sit on it you will see some strange sentence like "I feel very powerful now" and when they stand up "And the power is gone". Well it's a Hill Giant chair and if you brake it you can use it as a club in 1 hand with light property and set your STR to 19. So what about that Titan String bow now? i feel it GIANTLY STRONG in my hands ( xD ), even if i don't mind using elixirs i still prefer the bloodlust one for my archer ;)

Rogue is so strong for solo play. stacking sneak attack is very under rated - it also doubles on crit. So 9-11 levels in Rogue is one of my favorite play styles with the titan bow. Shadow monk is also great. The BA shadow step is amazing for positioning. They can be a good multiclass 7 shadow monk / 5 Rogue assassin, or even go 6/4/ with 2 fighter for more attacks. Sword bard with titan string bow / rogue assassin is also amazing. 6 swords / 4 rogue / 2 fighter gets you 9 titan bow attacks first turn using slashing flourish ranged.

1:20 Half-orc doesn't work with ranged anyway. It's specifically melee crits that are affected, not ranged. The elves are quite good for the stealth and perception skills and wood elves in particular for the extra movement, but the best class is lightfoot halfling for the advantage on stealth checks and lucky. This combo will lead to a lot more attacks than the extra 5' of movement. Aesthetically not the best, particularly for romances, so I'm only playing halfling because there's three of us grouping up and only one gets a companion. But it's quite nice on the dice.

I mean I don't like the critique other people's build guides but there was one part that was kind of annoying when you start talking about people abusing strength elixirs as if there's something wrong with that and then in the same breath say that you're going to take two levels of sport Druid just to get in a little extra damage, in my brain cells I'm screaming what the f*** is the difference?? I think you made the argument that people just use strength as a dumpster and then use the strength elixirs to offset damage but you don't have to do that to still out DPS the bill that you have going on here. On my first playthrough I didn't know that the strength Elixir is actually lasted until a long rest, which would have made a whole host of combats a hell of a lot easier, but I ended up doing five levels of Ranger 3 levels of fighter with the champion subclass and four levels of Rogue and I didn't even go assassin I just went for the Strait of thief for the extra bonus action and I could walk into 90% of the fights and end them with just my main character and not even have to touch the other characters within one or two rounds. I know that assassin does automatic crits and you restore your action but with two hand crossbows I was one shot in the vast majority of the ads and I didn't have to worry about whether or not I was going to turn invisible hide get out of combat jump back into combat re-establish the the assassination Procand then just go back in there and kill shiit again, I could just walk right in there in the combat half the time I didn't even get to sneak attack damage and then I would just kill the ads with just my main character. That extra bonus action from just being a regular Thief with a hand crossbows is broken assassination Broken. Anyway, my original point though still stands, I don't know how you're going to tell people that it's cheese to go in and use the strength of lectures which are in the game and then go and do you have two levels into Druid just to get out a little bit of extra necrotic damage I don't see the difference. Oh, am I a bill didn't even have a high strength I dumped it down to eight and I didn't even use the elixirs because I didn't know about that little bit of cheese until literally the last battle

Tbh using an elixir as a “build” feature is pretty cheesy, everyone acknowledges and agrees it completely breaks the game…if you look at my Lockadin build, imagine doing that with str elixir / baldurans you’ll be doing 50 minimum dmg each attacks. Are you really comparing dumping str, using a str elixir to get to 27 (+8 bonus) to dipping into a class for a thematic 1d6? Cmon man, one COMPLETELY breaks the game, the other is a way to BUILD a character. And for two handed crossbows, yes it’s broken and better than this…of course it’s gonna be but like all my other builds I try to create character based, lore appropriate, thematic and fun builds that don’t just completely break the game or destroy the immersion for me. Tactician difficulty just isn’t hard and not needed…also it’s funny that they actually did patch the dual crossbows benefitting from dex without investment in the patch today. Overall good write up, I know a lot of people get annoyed when you call something “cheesy”..I actually talk about the whole elixir use as a “build enabler” in another video, going as far to admit that in a dungeons and dragons campaign - you use any available tool to your advantage! So it is what it is. Excellent write up!
