But i doubt he actually is or has the power of a legitimate one. Not sure if he can really do much in his own form Though that said Raphael might still be fucked by his own endeavors. I think he and basically everyone might be misunderstanding how strong the crown actually is. They speak as if that’s the main thing that let Karsus kill mystra. I thought it was a full retcon at first because before it was the only 12th level spell ever made that did it(and didn’t even directly kill her). But a book in the game by Karsus called The Annals of Karsus actually does talk about his items and briefly mentions the spell, saying that’s his and his alone, not to be put on paper, which implies it is still the most important part of it all. Basically i think there’s reason to believe that lack of information on the spell made everyone think it was the crown and they all assume it has the power to kill a god because mystra did die then, just not at the hands of Karsus, the crown or even his spell. And as a result, Raphael believes the crown does more than it does. He’s probably going to get crushed by asmodeus if he even makes it there

Canonically, I don't think most in the Realms even know of his existence, which explains why plots like this pop up every now and then. He’s very much the embodiment of true neutral Overgod of the realms. Most of the divine follow this suit as well given one turn meets another.

Ao also requires the gods stick to their portfolio, meaning they can't use their immense powers for just anything at anytime without at least the risk of consequence. Long story short, my interpretation is that Asmodeus could put a stop to what Raph was doing, but that even if Raph overcame Asmodeus, it wouldn't automatically make Raph a god or even give Raph the power of a god. Which is why I say that, best case for Raph, Ao allows it and Raph replaces Asmodeus. And nothing really changes.

A part of me really doesn't want to kill Raphael and just agree to give him the crown. I find him amusing and he's not really done us dirty considering everything we've seen of him so far. He doesn't demand Astarion's soul or ours for information about the ritual. Plus there are many examples in the game of doing something that seems stupid actually turning into something good in the end. "Good luck Raphy, you're going to need it." I wish we could say to him as Asmodeus is someone not to be triffled with lightly. He'll be lucky if he let's Raphy become his number two. And it's not like the blood war can't start up again.

@@whiteraven562 As I was thinking about this more, Raphael really isn’t that much of a threat alone. He is really not that powerful even with the crown (or shouldn’t be, they could really change this anyway they want) therefore, it might make sense to work with zariel to fight raphael, but then have that be an Act 1 expansion thing and have Zariel then try to claim the crown and use it against us as she is by default much more powerful than default raphael. This could be the final boss in an act 2 of the expansion and would not only give struggle to us having to side with her in the beginning, but also give us the satisfaction of avenging Karlach’s torment in the end. This may or may not bring about a ‘happy’ ending for Karlach, but it would at the very least offer some closure to her character as a whole. The only problem that I have with this is that as Karlach is written in Act 3 of the campaign, she seems to realize that revenge is not as good as it seems to be and this wouldn’t be a great continuation of the character. (I still want to kick Zariel’s teeth in) I think that fixing her heart instead would be much better, so working with zariel and making a deal with her to fix Karlach would be a much better course story-wise

This honestly doesn't make much sense. Mephistopheles' main goal is to gain divine power so that he can challenge Asmodeus for rule over the Hells. He did gain a fragment of Shar/Mask's divine power from Erevis Cale, and issued a challenge to Asmodeus. Shortly afterwards though, Asmodeus consumed the entirety of Savras' divinity, and so once again was well outside of Mephistopheles' power level. Then Mephistopheles lost that fragment of divine power during the Shadowstorm. If Mephistopheles had the means to become a god from the Crown of Karsus locked in his vault for over a thousand years, that would be a major plothole.

I thought it's kinda funny how there's no ctuscene in the game (through a bug i guess) after having signed Raphaels pact. My headcannon was just that he now accompanies Gale in the deep sea search for that crown, because theoretically it still exists. And My Druid got to keep her Soul and went to dominate the underdark with Astarion. (non ascended ending, have to keep the spawn under control somehow after all :D) Having some Cambion and a megalovanian wizard diving for the artefact was kinda a funny mental image.

The Blood War is a perpetual conflict between all Hells. It's partly why the legions of Hell are unable to unify and attack the mortal planes. Additionally, the Blood War is the final punishment for the damned. If you led a truly evil and sinful life (and we're talking really sadistic sin here, not your average "sex out of wedlock" sin") then you'll be compelled to fight in the Blood War for all eternity.

The Blood War is a neverending war between the demons and the devils. Each Archdevil of a layer is expected to produce a levy of soldiers for battle against the demonic horde. This is essentially the purpose of the Nine Hells in maintaining cosmic balance; they keep the Abyss in check, and the reverse is true as well. Multiple attempted devilish coups have been foiled by the prescient matter of the Blood War being ignored for too great a time.

It's a huge plot hole. Mephistopheles has been attempting to acquire the powers of a god for a long time so he could challenge Asmodeus for rule over the Hells. When Mephistopheles acquired a *fragment* of Shar/Mask's divine power from Erevis Cale, he was pretty quick to shout out a challenge to Asmodeus. Shortly afterwards though, Asmodeus consumed the entirety of Savras' divinity, and so once again was well beyond Mephistopheles' power level. Especially after Mephistopheles had that fragment of divinity ripped from him during the Shadowstorm.

Not sure why this was even considered for an ending, the fucking blood war defines the nine hells, how is some random cambion going to end it from his wizard of oz ahh mansion, if they wanted to make it believable they’d build Raphael up way more and showcase a beginning to a rise of power instead of trying to deus ex machina it like they did here

He's a devil and likely lying. With the crown and some political game, he could likely deal with Zariel. The Blood War - less likely. Unless he finds some way to stop the horde from spilling out... Getting Mephisto to take him seriously with an artifact that was stolen from him and that he didn't use so far - Haha... no... Asmodeus though - no. No way in all of the Nine Hells.

@@cen3684 probably yeah, even tanos with all stones almost got oneshot by thor, so having items giving you power isn't the best indicator
