Withers is at least a B solely considering the resisting durge cutscene after killing orin. Bernard has some really neat backstory with the owner of the tower being potentially suicidal, which is why a few of his commands will have him either hug you or try to kill you. Elminster doesn't even have the balls to tell gale to blow up in person, he sends his simulacrum.

My first run of BG3, I romanced Lae'Zel and decided I was ride or die for her. I also decided I would take all the Illithid stuff on my own shoulders and not place that burden on my allies. These two choices lead to me getting what I can only describe as "The Country Song Ending". And holy crap i wouldn't trade that experience for anything. Everything fell apart and I died in the end but man was it worth it.

Imo the they were very consistent with the Illithids and the species was well written. Karlach changed in the epilogue because she'd started eating brains at that point. So by then, it was Karlach, plus a bunch of other brains in there. Illithids are very different than the original person. Imo, ascendant Astarion was on point and recognized a fellow monster when he saw one.

I think that people who try to be a good illithid are missing the point of the narrative. Illithid biology is just evil. It requires not just brains, but thinking minds to sustain itself, and while one can sustain themselves on evil creatures, you have to think on whether the person in question deserves their brain being consumed. Overall it's not impossible to be good as an illithid, but even Omeluum was only able to deviate from his nature by finding a completely different purpose in life, and the only reason he was separated from his evil nature in the first place was because of a mutation.

Jaheira was with me through almost all of Baldurs Gate. She had so much unique dialog and stories in the city. I also wish she would have been recruitable when you first met her.

Lae’zel and Karlach are S for me Astarion and shadowheart and Gale and Mintara are A Jareia probably spelled wrong but she is a B Wyll and Halsin are C for me honestly I just find them boring but still a good character.

Florrick doesn't disappear till act 3, she's actually in Last Light Inn the first time you go there and can have a whole conversation with you and Wyll (although she's easy to miss). I'd still give her a C, though.

Hard agree. Especially since it seemed Pepper had only played once, and much of the game broke or glitched for him. Also, Spencer never having gone to the crèche or the House of Hope is criminal.

Personally Khaga is C for me. Spoilers below: I really like to do the mini redemption arc for her but she loses all personality after you save Halsin. Her only line becomes, “Silvanus guide you.”

Lmao, spoken like the people who returned Scratch to that lady working at the couriers and killed the cub in the cave. Joking of course. Reasons why Jaheira is not from the start and isn't even "main": 1. It is about Tav, if you play custom, and origin characters story in general. If she was from the start - she would be more played, especially by old-timers like me. Jaheira is my favorite BG1-2 companion (mostly BG2 tho) and one of my favorite Bioware characters ever. She wouldn't leave my party if she was from early act1 or even early act2, thus the game would be just about playing with 20yo character instead of telling new story (Minsc supposed to be in act1 as at very early builds of EA, in the nautiloid crash area, but was scrapped for same reasons). I wouldn't even bother swapping her and getting to know other characters if Jaheira was from the start. In this case I at least played with new characters before making Jaheira unswappable party member. 2. She is there to pass the torch to you, as adventurer, not to be the main adventurer (literally written as optional secondary character, also easily dies during assault on Moonrise lol, just jumps onto halberd). That's just confirmed reason by Adam Smith, who was a lead writer on BG3, that she is there "to pass the torch to you, a new generation of adventurers" 3. Writing disinterest, at least in comparison to original Larian characters ofc (not necessarily origin btw). Jaheira is a legacy character, owned as part of IP by WoTC, which also means WoTC decides her canon prior to BG3 regardless of the choices players made in BG1-2. So, if you are a writer, would you rather create your own character and write for them a story you want to tell, or you work on legacy character with specific pre-defined background that wasn't even created by you, and somehow in this new installment all you hav to do is "justice to legacy character" instead of creating your own?

Really enjoyed this video! ..but I have to ask, are any of you aware of Rolan's character development?? While some fans of Rolan may just be thirsty, some like him because he's a well written character who actually significantly changes for the better (given that you make the right in game choices, I suppose). He's kind of a douche at first in the grove. Then he's a thankless ass to you when you save him in Act 2. By the time you save his siblings from Moonrise, he is finally thankful for your help and warms up to you! In act 3, things dont go as planned with Lorrroakan, and he will side with you to bring down Lorroakan's haughty wizard ass! Overall a simple story, but I think he's a very well developed character for having such a minor role. Also, what about Sceleritas Fel?! What a fucked up little weirdo. I love him.

You don't have to kill the owlbear cubs mom to get him. You just have to have found and gone into the cave, the goblins will attack the mom by the time you get to the goblin camp

Putting scratch in D tier is unforgivable. He is the BEST boy. Also his VA did a great job of conveying a dog finding a new owner and being undyingly loyal. The scene at the kennels got me feeling some sort of murder rage that wasn't existing for most of the game. The kennel master needed to die more than Gortash.

Vampire Ascendant Astarion is one of the worst, most emotional whiplash inducing endings for any character. You spend so much time working out his backstory, his drive, his reasoning for wanting to confront his former master. And then he's just like "tee hee haha death go bwooom" and then he's just an arrogant prick the rest of the game

Gale is S tier. Never travel without him. Banter is S+, I love his ramblings (largely likely due to the VA) and his flaws are intriguing and incredibly human. Karlach to me is just boring. She's a cinnamon roll. And adorable. But just... boring. B tier. Astarion is infuriating in the way he worms his way into your heart. The Rascal rogue you can't help but love despite his often dubious actions. And his potential character growth? Ah. Easily an A. Potentially S. Shadowheart is an A. Love her to bits and her story is both heartbreaking heartwarming. Wyll- A or maybe B. He is interesting in that he is so normal for a dnd character, he's the character someone likely makes as their 1st or 2nd character. He sticks by his morals. Laezel is interesting, I don't like her as much as others, so a B. With her only real redeeming quality being her potential growth as a character/person.

My least liked characters were wyll and gale. They both are annoying. My first play through I walked around the portal for wyll walking on the other side of the crash site and up the stone steps to the grove. I ended up killing wyll too in that play through when I was seiging the grove for minthara
