Just outta curiosity, with your knowledge and experience of this series. What race/class/alignment do you feel the Bhaalspawn is best suited for? I know Abdel Adrian is a character in the lore, but I'd love to hear your 2 cents.

This is a tough one. As a personal note, I hate the character of Abdel Adrian. He was written for the novelization of Baldur’s Gate. They took the story and put it into the steering wheel of a cold, unfeeling grunt who came in with experiences and baggage from adventures that we didn’t hear about in the story (they apparently made Abdel into a mercenary who had left Candlekeep before the story began?!). I did not like the way that Abdel was written and I don’t appreciate that they took his “story” and slapped it on as the canonical version. I don’t have a single answer for this. On one hand, I don’t think that Gorion’s Ward is supposed to be an evil monster (at least not a chaotic destroyer, maybe a secretly evil character but well hidden). Maybe one can consider them to be a sociopath, primarily due to their unique nature, but I’d say that the fascination of the story comes in when we look at Gorion’s Ward’s battle of their nature going against the nurturing from their growth at Candlekeep. They have the compulsion to do evil and to go forth and kill but they resist it and direct it to attack antagonists. With this conflict in mind, there are a few classes that I think can work but ultimately I’d want a character who has a bit of intelligence and wisdom to have the introspective ability to battle his or her inner demons. I can see them as a Fighter (probably a Berserker) who fights (and kills) and relies on allies to support their quest for arcane or divine support. I can also see them as an Assassin who takes that nature to focus on killing evildoers but slips and kills occasional innocents. I can also see a Sorcerer who has the magic in their blood fueled by their nature but that has to be controlled in order to prevent being hunted and killed for that evil nature (and to be a hero). Monks, Rangers, and Paladins could work well too just because they can symbolize that struggle between nature and nurture. For classes I DON’T see them, I don’t see them as a Cleric or a Blackguard (which deity or extraplanar being would give the child of a rival deity their power?). I also don’t see them as a basic Bard unless they took that nature into a very secretive nature. Not an easy clear answer (sorry for that) but that's my two cents.

An interesting question. It depends. If it's for RP purposes, i like pure mage or sorcerer. I feel like Gorion's ward would have been born with either the capacity to learn magic, or an innate ability to cast spells, being the son of a God. But if it's about doing well in game, can't go wrong with berserker-mage or kensai-mage. A classic battle mage is always great. Very tanky in combat, even without physical armor. Access to breach, spell thrust, and feeblemind is great as a tank
