"It's impossible to have wisdom lower than 10". Hold my hamster!

Hahahahaha! True for Minsc, though head injuries aren’t accounted for in character creation!

your narration style is Great, and your ending is funny as hell. I'm Just not too fond of the background music being so high but maybe that's Just me
@Redjoy12311 ай бұрын
Very much appreciated! Yes, after the Starter Guides I leaned slightly away from using background music just bc I could never get the levels right. I'll redo these sometime with corrected levels. Thank you, I'm happy you enjoyed it!

I would say Golems are the best favoured enemy. Other than imprisonment, which honestly isn't all that practical to use given melee range and a massive cast time even when you eventually get it, Golems have to be brute forced with physical attacks or lower resist (again, not practical). They see steady representation throughout the game and are generally some of the more dangerous enemies to go toe to toe with. Also, the reputation thresholds for falling are below 6 for a paladin and below 4 for a ranger if I recall. And even for a starter guide, I think you should discuss kits. There is no reason why even a beginner would start with a base class. Base classes are generally tuned to be weaker than kits by a pretty significant margin. Archers are extremely powerful in BG1, for example, and comfortably surpass fighters. Stalkers can backstab and get high stealth scores. Base classes are pretty much only for multi classes or where no kit is available.

I agree that Golems are a great choice, especially compared to Vampires or Beholders since they are actually quite common across the entire game. I know that Demonic/Fell enemies can be incredibly dangerous as well but you make an excellent point about Golems due to how a team actually has to fight them. The kits for each of the classes is coming next week. I was originally thinking of calling them the Kit guides but with this advice I might reconsider and call it something like "Complete X_CLASS Review" that will start with a quick review of the class and then go into how each of the kits plays differently. I did review the Archer in the Race Guide but I'll also put them in context of the other Ranger kits when I do that Complete Review.

Rangers fall at 5. Outsiders are the best favored enemy in second edition. Little use early on, but very useful from around lvl 7-8. Fiends are common summons from that point on and major type of enemy in Watchers' Keep.

minsc is a barbarian, change my mind.
@Redjoy123 Жыл бұрын
Ha! I think he would have been a GREAT Barbarian! Sadly, he is a Ranger. One, Boo is his animal companion. Similar to other rangers having bears or wolves or hawks, Minsc has Boo. He also prides himself as being a woodsman and a Second, barbarians are known for doing BOTH lots of damage and taking a lot of damage. Minsc can hit like a truck but he folds like paper compared to other front-line warriors. Plus, Minsc needs armor to survive; barbarians thrive without armor. Third, Minsc does rage, but his rage is uncontrolled. Compared to barbarians who are focused in their rage and go straight for the enemy, Minsc's rage is more of a silly 1998 feature than a usable strategy. Here's what I'll say: Minsc SHOULD have been a Barbarian but leaned hard into the Ranger class.

Rangers (and Paladins) need wisdom to avoid spell failure.
@Redjoy1237 ай бұрын
Very nice! That makes sense, especially since I hold that the divine magic for these classes is very useful for survivability. Thank you for letting us know!

I can't believe the amount of misinformation that's going around on these games lately. smh
@Redjoy1236 ай бұрын
@@FanOfDaUnderAppreciated Specific example that's 'misinformation' and not a mistake or omission?
@ambioniskariot50696 ай бұрын
@@FanOfDaUnderAppreciated Why? Spell failure for low wisdom was a thing in AD&D 2nd so Paladins and Rangers need wisdom for a reason - because BG is based on AD&D 2nd.
@FanOfDaUnderAppreciated6 ай бұрын
@@ambioniskariot5069 Because this isn't an exact implementation of 2nd edition AD&D by a long stretch. Anyone that's an experienced player of these games knows that rule was not implemented into the BG games.

What the hell, 14 wisdom requirement is some serious robbery on character creation, as if Minsc didn't make this class look bad enough :D Archer is great, Stalker can be decent, base Ranger is a worse fighter and Beastmaster... might be worse than a Monk.
@Redjoy1235 ай бұрын
@@Xertaron. So true, on all accounts! I SERIOUSLY misused the Archer kit for my hardcore run… you should absolutely not watch it, unless you like sheer “dying before reaching Nashkel” embarrassment. I owe it another attempt…
