I am 61, normally I play Sims or "cozy" games but found a playthrough of BG3 by Mad Morph last year and HAD to have it ! I even bought a new computer to deal with the required specs (it is a Predator....cool name eh?). 500 hours later I took a step back cos it was taking over my life. I still haven't been able to fully finish it cos the final choice you need to make tears me apart... I just can't do it. I have restarted multiple times, I have tried different classes (favourite is a Druid half-wood elf circle of the land) and even tried a Dark Urge playthrough but it was too dark for me, I was unable to make the necessary choices to see it through. I had loads of trouble with the mechanics as I had never played a game like it but the online community were very helpful and supportive. Not once did anyone mock my lack of skill and knowledge. They gave me hints and even full walkthroughs if asked. I love BG3 and the BG3 community xxx (PS the harem aspect was a bit much to handle and some of the "scenes" made me blush but they have toned them down a bit. I tried romancing Astarion but he was a bit full on so I switched to Gale and always go with Gale when playing lol) xxxx(PPS I even bought the box set and have the music on in my car)

(Thanks for the recommendation, I will check it out, though I am currently in my medieval phase with Manor Lords and Medieval Dynasty which is awesome) xxx

Fans of the studio and fans of D&D and the series were all super excited when the first teaser released. Larian didn't just use good fantasy stuff, they went into deep D&D specific lore by drawing on the mind flayers aka Illithid. And there's a little bit of everything.
@gamester512Ай бұрын
And there are also references to come fan-favorite characters as well. Drizzt Do'Urden (a drow ranger who is probably one of the most well-known and beloved Forgotten Realms heroes) is indirectly referenced by at least one book in the game, and Astarion has an occasional random "banter" line that has him trying to make a pun out of Drizzt's name. Drizzt and Minsc have met each other before as well, as you can encounter Drizzt and his friends (the "Companions of the Hall") in both BG1 & BG 2, and they also run into each other in the Neverwinter MMO, where Drizzt himself is confused by the fact that Minsc is still alive, since he should have long since succumbed to old age since he's just a normal human, which is when Drizzt learns that Minsc (and Boo) spent a very long time petrified and had only recently had their petrification undone.

@Imman1sАй бұрын
About that reveal trailer... That statue is Minsc and boo his miniature giant hamster companion. Mins is one of your companions from the first games, and he were turned into stone by a spell, found by some traders and delivered to Baldurs Gate as mere statues. The scene in the trailer about wild mage going wild during a fight, and one of the spells hitting the statues and undoing the stone spell a few hundred years later. In other words, it was Larian telling the fans of the series that Minsc was back (and indeed, he can be recruited as companion in BG3 as well)
@AmyElnahАй бұрын
Just to add, the story of them being petrified and then later being hit by wild magic and freed were all part of a series of comic books which the trailer was a reference to much later. Minsc has had his own fair share of adventures between games ^^

Bards make a great "face" for your party. They can be successful with a LOT of different skills, they're charismatic and good with social situations, they get a lot of deep lore, AND they're a very dynamic class in combat. They're a lot of fun. Every class is going to function very differently, so expect to experiment, is my advice. Try to talk to everyone. Remember that how you treat people matters - and your companions will have Opinions about your choices.
@greenmanjoe1Ай бұрын
If you like bards you should enjoy this playthrough ;)
@Imman1sАй бұрын
Lol, a "face". Bards are one of (if not the most) OP classes in BG3. As half casters, they are both proficient in magic and melee, and the subclasses make them suitable to almost every conceivable playstyle. Not to mention they get song of rest (1 extra short rest) and jack of all trades (half bonus to everything you are not proficient) at lvl 2. And as you said, there is a lot of bard specific options in the game... so there is no better class if you want to convince your enemies to kill themselves :p
@gamester512Ай бұрын
Plus, with Bards being a Charisma-focused class, they also multiclass well with Sorcerer, Warlock, and/or Paladin. But no matter what class you pick, you can make it effective. Some builds (like the "Ice Sorcerer" or "Tavern Brawler Monk") are stronger than most average builds, but if something tickles your fancy, feel free to give it a shot, and if it doesn't work out, an NPC at your cam can allow you to respec your character and change their class if you so desire. A favorite combo of mine is the tried-and-true "Sorlock" which is a Sorcerer with 2-3 levels of Warlock for Eldritch Blast, Hex, Hellish Rebuke, Repelling Blast, & Agonizing Blast, and then the rest goes into Sorcerer. This results in one of the best "blaster caster" builds in the game, as Eldritch Blast has an extremely long range, and can benefit from the Sorcerer's Metamagic feats to make Eldritch Blast even more powerful.

This was so much fun to watch, can't wait to see your playthrough! Ow and I can confirm the city easily takes over a hundred hours to fully explore. Doesn't mean you HAVE to explore every part of it though, so don't let that scare you. A single playthrough takes most people anywhere between 60 to 400 hours from what I've heard (with 60 being rushed and 400 being 'checked every nook and cranny at least twice over just to make sure I found everything'). Also not that it matters much, but in case you're like me and just love watching trailers, you still have the 'PS5 early launch' trailer left (one of the best imo, it's full of trolling), as well as the cinematic trailer (which you see at the beginning of the game anyways)....and the 'bear scene' kind of counts as a trailer as well I'd say (though you may want to avoid that one unless you want to be scarred for life, like the rest of us...and the poor squirrel).😅

"That squirrel's seen some shit. I can only imagine." That was actually seen in a public gameplay showing that, uh, really shocked the audience with what you could do in this game. And they probably only saw it because the devs were asking the audience to choose what they should do in the scenes, and thus, the audience probably didn't expect this to ACTUALLY happen. And so, because of that, I'll spoil what that squirrel is seeing, and yes, this IS SOMETHING THAT IS IN THE FINAL PRODUCT! You ready? ...The squirrel is: ...watching you get it on with a bear. No, not a "hairy gay man" kind of bear, I mean a literal 800+ pound grizzly bear.

I don't think that everything in this game has been discovered yet. I did have a problem with choosing what character to build, so I now have five different builds all waiting their own turn for a runthrough - & I'm still in Act I - so very much to do yet! I'll watch your playthrough because you look like you're going to have a lot of fun discovering all that this game offers. And Larian is releasing 12 new subclasses in early 2025; they are great! One warning - any mods you want to add - have them added & available for any character you want to use them for BEFORE you create that character! No new added mods will be allowed in an already-made character. Have fun!!! ;D

My fave thing is people who either don't know or who are against BG3 to give it a shot and get converted into one of us, one of us! :D You're very attentive to detail, it's really fun to note what someone who doesn't know the lore picks out as interesting. ♥Hope you enjoy the game!

I played Dragon age Origins and seeing this brought me so much joy, dark fantasy, loads of choices but also consequences. I like many signed up for early access by purchasing the game in early Beta stages. To see it become the game it has is just thrilling. Larian listened and was happy to take on board what we had to say. The statue is of Minsc and his space hamster, he is from a previous game.

No Panel From Hell: Release Showcase trailer (7th July 2023). Trust me when I say that was the Trailer which sold the game… or at least got all the main stream press suddenly interested.

You should absolute get 1-3 other BG3 noobs to play it with you. It's a completely different experience.

I'm sure someone's mentioned this, but you CAN multi-class. My half-elf Bardic Monk build has been my favourite so far.
