BALENCIAGA'S CONTROVERSIAL AD CAMPAIGN THAT OUTRAGED US ALL | $25 MILLION LAWSUIT - WHO'S TO BLAME?

Like many of you, I'm incredibly upset and disturbed by the two recent Balenciaga ad campaigns that have caused a major scandal for the brand. These advertising campaigns have contained extremely controversial photography that is beyond inappropriate, and have been taken down immediately due to backlash. People are already denouncing Balenciaga and its Creative Director Demna, and celebrities such as Kim Kardashian are starting to speak out about the controversy surrounding the brand.
Today we're not going to discuss the questionable campaigns themselves (as I don't think they're worth glorifying), but instead, we'll talk about how Balenciaga has handled (err, not handled) the aftermath of the situation. While Balenciaga has officially apologized for their wrongdoings, in my personal opinion, I don't think that they've handled the situation appropriately at all. A lot of people are saying that Balenciaga is cancelled, that the brand is over, etc. So, I'm going to share my opinions based on my professional experience working in marketing & ad campaigns, and explain why I don't think Balenciaga is maybe being 100% truthful with us about who is to blame. Instead of taking accountability for the mistakes they've made, they are making other people outside of Balenciaga into scapegoats to take the blame, slapping them with lawsuits of $25 million.
