Those sculptures were insanely beautiful. I love to have those reindeer antler of platycerium ridleyi and that giant elephant ear platycerium form gives a grandeur display. Love this area.

I totally agree with you. Everyone has the same plants on KZbin. Does get a little boring. Where’s the diversity. Along with you I love watching benjiplant. He’s just different with his own style.

Plants in NZ is still expensive but I think going down in price, I’m holding off buying and hopefully my wish plants will go down in price. I also have space problem like all plant lovers do. My aim this year is to make sure the plants I have now is thriving and display them nicely in my space. I also love sharing, I give my mum, auntie and cousin my propagations and they love it. Thank you for taking us to your journeys Sean, always appreciated, I’m so tempted to get an agleolema, I’ll watch your care tip video again and see how I do. Take care.

I totally agree that sellers should put a name tag on all the plants they sell and yeah variation of plants showcasing from their best to the rarest even if its not for sale just to show whats to be expected next. I got tired of visiting exhibitions where all stalls offer the same product mixes as others and its really boring. At times this could be because the event itself is focused in showcasing a particular plant, just the same varieties should still be showcased. Thanks much for highlighting these points. Amazing job once again

Hey Sean just wanted to let you know that the plant at 9:00 is an Alocasia Zebrina Reticulata. It's one of my favorite plants in my collection! Also, this video basically confirmed (yet again) that I am living in the wrong part of the world because I could never find anything like this where I live without spending my life's fortune 😂

Hey Sean. I'm in the Midwest USA and we have little to no access to rare aroids besides online. The craving for anthuriums is still strong here! I've decided to become an importer to sell locally despite many people's comments that the plant craze is slowing down in my area. I don't think that's true, I think people here are just tired of the same 20-30 plants being in all the shops. Which goes along with your idea of specialized stores. I would love to go to a carnivorous, orchid, or aroid store. I've never in person seen a philodendron verrucosum, melanochrysum, or even a gloriosum. But that's gonna change soon cuz I just ordered some from Indonesia! Your insight into the plant market has been very helpful, so thanks!
@onlyplants2 жыл бұрын
Whoaaa interesting. I guess supply there has not met demand. This shows our locations determine opportunity. I actually have a final clearance sale event in first week of Sept. there will be lots of “rare” aroids there at break neck prices. But they do sell out fast, keep your eyes peeled for it. 😀

Hi, Sean! I agree with you as well that we, plant lovers, should be as diverse as ourselves and specialize in genus. I experienced this myself when I reached out of my comfort zone and bought home plants that I wasn't familiar with. I have a hard time watching plants decline, so since then, I chose to stick with ones that work well with my habits and living conditions. By the way, plants that didn't do well is Geoppertia, and what I keep in general are succulents and Hoyas. I'm a notorious under-waterer, unlike you! Besides this point, I keep finding myself in you, constantly! Stay well and continue creating wonderful videos ❤️

Well, I must be weird because I was into succulents way before the pandemic..but that is because we have a lot of direct sun and very low humidity in Colorado, USA...love staghorn ferns, platycerium. The humidity loving plants are more of a struggle... I have not bought any of the "RARE PLANTS" cause cannot afford the money and stress, except for manjula and some hoyas... We certainly don't have the variety of plants that you have shown in your plant shows...how often do you have these big events? That is such a beautiful paradise in Bali..
@onlyplants2 жыл бұрын
These events are every month or so but in various locations. I dont think I can go every month to see the same things lol. I guess maybe the grass is always greener on the other side 😀

Hi Sean! Greetings! It seems to me that green leaves is still King here in the United States. Lots of times I go to my local Home Depot or Lowes and I always see succulents and Cacti going bad because it doesn't seem like people are buying them but still want the family of leaves. I myself am a leaf lady and I only lightly touch on succulents and little to no cacti. Would like to get a couple of plant eaters but I'm not like crazy about that genus either. I'm not into Begonias though there are many who are into that. I just like the succulent kind of begonias. Not much into cane or rex begonias. I had a common cane begonia and it finally died. But I'm not crazy attracted to those either. Yeah but Green leaves Dude, that's what I see going on in my area. Sellers are still supplying those big time. People on KZbin still on the leaf crunch. So perhaps it will go the way you'd wish in a big way in a couple of generations but it doesn't seem to me that people are tired of the leaves. Have a blessed one and know that the Great Invisible King of the Universe Loves you and yours.

@onlyplants My guess is the market will stabilize, being enriched with many new and beautiful plants. I sure have noticed house plants have gained popularity here in the Netherlands. In that respect Covid wasn’t bad for the market and I think quite a few young people will keep on loving the plants they already have. The market has been booming for some time and now dealers wil have to re-invent their businesses, which in itself shouldn’t be a huge problem.
@onlyplants2 жыл бұрын
Correct, those thinking of starting a plant business now should also consider the oversupply issue… thats my advice although it may not be relevant to all regions.

I totally agree. The aroid craze at the beginning of pandemic kinda "murks" the plant community around the globe. Unfortunately I'm also part of this craze. Especially in Indonesia, we have completely perfect environment to grow them. And most people jumped on the bandwagon of collecting plants because they're more interested in the economic gain side of it. Which is completely fine too. But when the market isn't as good as it used to be. They completely leave the "hobby" all together, which i think unconsciously make other people decided to leave too. The first second year of my plant collection journey, i actually had a "revelation" after watching Patrick Blanc's videos on Indonesian native/endemic plants. Indonesia actually have very interesting and beautiful plants aside these "common" rare aroid on the market at that moment. So i decided to try grow some endemic begonias, labisia, small orchid, nepenthes, etc... But i ended up killing most of them lol... because there's barely any plant people here actually have them or try to grow them. So there's no reference or guidelines to grow them in the house environment. We're too busy with south american's plants instead 🙃
@onlyplants2 жыл бұрын
Whoaa I need to check out Patric blancs videos too. I have been growing endemic plants but am careful not to reveal them publicly as I do not want them to be poached from our nature.

I would never buy a 1 leaf cutting EVER because if said leaf dies the plant is pretty much gone and the prices people were charging during the pandemic was mental ! , The plant didn't get harder to grow or propagate , I have the money for the inflated prices but I refuse to pay it because I know it will come back down.
