Take a tour with us through a Balinese glass blowing workshop in Tegalalang. This shop specializes in on of a kind glass bowl molded on driftwood.

This is such a niche product to specialise in but it seems to be going well for them with the quantity, fascinating how successful an idea can be with so many people on the planet now it doesn't take much to get a big demand for a product and make a living, how cool!

Just got back from Bali yesterday. Picked up a bunch of these beautiful pieces. I was surprised they are so cheap there it's and I come from India where everything is cheap. 😂

that's because the workers are wage slaves. The pieces aren't nearly as cheap as the labor is.

How do the guys with the grinders know which piece of wood the bowl goes on after it’s gone on that pile!? I really want one of these, I aqua asap ind I just wish they did a 6’ low on a log😂

If they coated the wood in a heat resistant epoxy or resin first they could mold the glass to the wooden stand without scorching it and retain it's wooden quality without having to sand it / remove the burnt edges later but maybe they've got a plan for that or it's easier to just sand it off later 🤔

They don't sand off the burnt part of the wood. They keep it there to maintain its authenticity and charm.

no dust mask while grinding glass ?????? WTF? ..... wow wow wow .... his life will be very short lived. Nothing worse then breathing in glass, just plumb azz dumb. At least his friend will still be around but not much longer as that glass is flowing right thru that mask without a care in the world. Beautiful work!!! 8)

There aren't too many health inspectors here in Bali, thats for sure.

They generally don't enforce safety for anything in Bali / Thailand xD when I was in Koh Samui everyone just drives around their scooters without helmets, drink driving everywhere, 3 people ridesharing on a bike because nobody can afford the scooters as they're overpriced like crazy knowing people will get out a small loan because it's still more affordable than a car and you can't drive or park cars there anyway! Occasionally the police do a monthly random afternoon of issuing tickets to anyone unlucky enough to be caught not wearing a helmet where you're expected to just give the policeman a couple hundred Baht as a bribe instead of being ticketed the full fine which is really high in comparison, it's how the police raise money for themselves as they're paid almost nothing by the Gov for a salary 😅 Everyone just texts all their friends and family the moment they notice "HEY POLICE ARE ISSUING FINES TODAY SO WEAR A HELMET OR DON'T GET CAUGHT" It's nuts but i had the time of my life!
