Bob, would you recommend Bali for a single woman?
@marc28123 жыл бұрын
@@bevelynbrown9359 I'm not Bob and I'm not a woman, but I've been to Bali twice, and based on my observations, you should be fine, as long as you pick your neighborhood carefully. For the softest landing, I'd recommend Ubud (where Bob started off). There are tons of foreigners there and the vibe is pretty laid back. Reminds me sort of a tropical northern California - lots of Yoga, meditation, and so forth. The "Love" part of the movie "Eat, Pray, Love" was set there in Ubud, and I get the sense that at least some of the single female visitors are chasing that idea. Unless you're a 20-something party animal, I'd steer clear of (South) Kuta. The areas of Seminyak and Legian are both nice. If you're interested in working while there, the digital nomad hotspot is Canggu.

Hi Robert. I lived in Lovina for 4 years and only returned to Australia because of covid. Just be aware, the B211 visa is 6 months as you are aware. It cannot be extended onshore. Indonesia is one of my favorite countries. If you are a scuba diver and snorkeler it is paradise. If you are young enough and looking for all sorts of adventure, Indonesia is my favorite. I have traveled scuba dove, snorkeled and climbed mountains and run from Kamodo dragons from the islands off the north tip of Sumatra to the last undersea reef south of the Banda Islands in the Maluca islands. You won't believe what is there until you go see it yourself. I also spent a few months a year for a few years living in Ubud making videos as I got older. Another great place!

I've been wondering how Bobby's doing! I've been using him as an example of early retirement for myself. I was in Playa Del Carmen in March 2020 and got back to Canada just before the covid lockdown. I was visiting a friend who has lived in Playa for 12 years. He works online, makes good money and $USD as well. I don't have an online job but even if I work the summer months in Canada and winters in the southern hemisphere I'd be a very happy man. I don't need a lavish lifestyle, just freedom. 10:30 minutes of the video: Nothing better than fresh chicken and I also love to cook and prefer to live in the countryside over the city center. My expenses are $1,250.00 CDN ($1,000 USD) a month . My rent is $750 CDN if I can live this cheap in Canada I can do it in Mexico, Philippines, Indonesia, et al. Bobby's motivating me! If Bobby's only spending $83 a month on rent I'd like to know what his other expenses are to reach $1,200 a month?

So sad to say but I don't know. Most of the world is struggling to eat at all. The USA and Europe have very strictt food labeling laws and I am not sure if you will find that overseas. Yes, the subjective views expressed by your guest are valid but much of what he said, and pics shown during his explanation of Ubud, were simply misleading. This does not take anything away from how beautiful and affordable much of Bali can be but please DO NOT think that what you have seen in this interview is accurate. Go to Bali, when you can, and stay and travel for, at the absolute minimum, 2 weeks before starting to form an opinion of this beautiful island and its people. Thanks for your efforts in educating us on retiring cheap and enjoying life.

What are you saying Mac? Can you be more specific in your criticism? Are you saying most people won't be willing or able to find $83 months apartments? That I would agree with in general. Most people watching this will live in the tourists areas and pay tourist prices. That doesn't mean people willing to live more like a local can't find cheaper places. Thanks for commenting. Dan

I too was curious about which part was miskeading? While I Ubud in a very nice villa with a pool it was $300 a month for 3 months I averaged spending about $1800.00 a month. Now where I live up north I found long term for $1000.00 for 12 months. The places I visited in the pictures are easy to get to and affordable. Yes, I agree every one should stay for at least a month because the expenses of the flight, quarantine and tests, make it less attractive as a 1, 2 week vacation. Otherwise I am curious which part was deceptive?
@marc28123 жыл бұрын
@@yangzhengqing8024 I did not find anything misleading here. As a short-term visitor to Ubud a couple of years ago, I spent $11/night to stay in a perfectly comfortable, air-conditioned hotel room in Ubud with breakfast included. (It was called Rumah Ary). It wasn't luxurious and the room wasn't big, but it was clean and it was comfortable and even had its own balcony. Eating local the rest of the day cost perhaps $6/day, which left me another $23/day in my budget before I hit $1,200/month. It would be hard to travel on $23/day in Los Angeles or London. But in Ubud? No problem. The only thing I found in Bali that was expensive and didn't have a reasonably-priced local alternative was alcohol. It's just expensive. No way around it. And that's true throughout the country. So if drinking alcohol daily is a requirement for someone, then they should try a different country.

Happy to find your channel, and experienced travel expert is what I need... My situation is highly unique, I have a show called bucket list due to a terminal illness.still healthy and have lived in Asia last year oh, and the question I have is this.... I love culture and motorcycle touring, my bike still in Cambodia. Where would you go 4 that sort of richness and beautiful young women that are going to accompany me and potentially take good care of me. All this on Social Security. Look at Uruguay and would like to finish my tour in Asia what are your thoughts thank you kindly in advance..

The Philippines is by far the best for beautiful women willing to date older men but it is not open yet. Maybe tour up through Lao and then down through Vietnam? Head to the Philippines as soon as it opens.

Very low indeed. I wonder if it was in part to just get someone paying rent during the current health crisis? I forgot to ask Bobby that.

I have a couple of questions. I am a type two diabetic and I take different medication, I’m also on TRT where would I get my medications ? I am retired and I want to be an expert preferably in Southeast Asia. Thank you and God bless.

Medications are easily available at pharmacies in Bali and other SE Asia Countries. I recommend going on the Expat FB page for the city/country that you're considering and ask your specific question there. I can answer the TRT question; I have a friend in Bali who is on TRT and he had no problem getting his there. It was actually a stronger version than he had been taking so his doctor in another country lowered the amount. Thailand is open with a quarantine, or through Phukets "Sandbox". There are also visa options to get into Bali. You can contact a visa agent and ask about the retirment visa if you're old enough for it.

I like Tommy's advice. I also use the expat facebook pages for this kind of specific information. Just search "city/country name expats" on facebook.
