So who gets this money,will they clean the dirty beaches, are they building a recycle center, making the roads better, paying the agricultural people/ farmers. I have no problem paying money, but this sounds like another sneaky situation. You are already paying 35 dollars for visa on arrival. So now at 37,000 arrivals daily X 10 usd that's 370,000. Just multiply it by 7 days a week, 4 weeks in a month, 12 months a year. That's a lot of money.

I agree, environmental awareness and cleanliness is a learned behavior and also a behavior passed down from parent to child. I remember as a child, my mom always made sure we put out wrappers in our pocket until we were able to find a trash can. If we threw it on the ground my mom would scold us and make us pick it up or put in our pocket or throw it in trash can, if one was available.

Wow... I have been to Bali 4 times within the past 6 months and my next arrival on the 20th February (flights already booked 😪) This will be my last time. I think Lombok can be the New Bali for me. Feeling sad for all the homestays/grabs and local businesses that will feel the loss of income if more people start to think the same as i.

I live in UK and the 150k tax to enter Bali I don’t think is that much, but is a problem if I’m going on the islands around and have to pay it again. But what scares me the most is the 40% tax that will be applied to tourists’ bills at nightclubs, spas, some beach clubs, and other specific entertainment venues…. Do you have any info about that?

It's not that quite expensive when you travel as an individual. But when you travel as a couple with two kids and you go also a few days to Lombok or Java and return to Bali to catch you flight you have to pay again. Than it's getting expensive for some people.

by immigration regulation, yes you got free 30 days.. but this is bali province regulation (and only for bali. not other part of indonesia), all tourist must pay tourist levy to enter bali.

I don't see it as a big problem... 150.000 is not so expensive for most tourists... even backpackers... If they cannot afford this amount... there probably not even gonna spent a lot on anything else also... So not a big miss...
