I also had (2) drowning experiences as a kid and its super scary trying to learn how to swim but once you conquer that fear and learn the freedom you gain is amazing! I'm happy you. were able to be vulnerable enough to give in to that experience and gain a new survival skill!

I'll sign up for swim lessons! It's been on my bucket list to learn how to swim. My college has a graduation requirement that you need to be able to tread water for 20 mins or take a swimming class. I took the swimming class and still didn't get the skill.

South Africa is a great idea, it is queer friendly and there is so much to do. I would avoid Spain though, that country is so racist it makes Britain blush (and Brits are the originators). While we can experience racism anywhere, it is almost a guarantee in Spain. Especially right now with the political issues, rise in right wing nationalism, racist football issue etc - there is alot happening in that country, so it is best to avoid till the coast clears. Plus, I would not spend money to learn the multiple ways they hate my black ass lol - a long way of saying please avoid Spain. Greece is another great idea. I would also throw Ghana into the mix but December is usually the time to go to Ghana (December is when there is an influx of travellers to Ghana and Nigeria - it is known as Detty December because there is soooo much activities happening - this is good if you want a packed holiday but if y'all want chilled one then it may not be the best place).
