Baling hay 2021 with our bale baron!
Hay 2021 is a go! We have cut 19Ha of our 60ha of hay.
We got our bale baron last year and it has made a huge difference to our operation with hugely increased efficiency.

We Have a 3 point hitch mounted PTO druven 1000 input, 540 output Hydraulc drive that goes in between the tractor and baler designed and manufactored by Marcrest enabling you to use tractors with borderline hydraulic capaciy.....

Great video. What kind of output per hour would you get with this set up?

Thank you, 500-700 bales per hour, depending on the amount of crop and hay or straw, (higher output on straw)

@@anorfolkfarmer9732 i thought that sounded way too high and did the math. 5.14 to 7.2 seconds a bale. That actually looks about right. Hell of an output!

@@tdolan500 it is a huge output, the other day we did over 4500 bales including a 45 minute move on the road. That was in Hay too. Mainly due to having a constant heavy feed which is crucial to high output

What is on front of the tractor? Is that a pto powered hyddraulic power pack?

It’s actually just a front box. We made it 18 months ago and it’s really handy for carrying string etc!

Interesting. So the tractor is supplying hydraulics to the baron thru one of the remotes?

@@dylanknight4028 yes, the tractor has power beyond which the baron is Plugged into. That allows the baron to take oil from the tractor whenever it needs it

It does depend on thickness, in a good day you could bale over 4000 bales. Which could be a few acres but cool be many. Mainly down to amount of bales rather than area

This year, we have almost finished hay already (done 27ha out of 40), and we have bales over 10ha in a day and could’ve done more but there wasn’t anymore to do

@@anorfolkfarmer9732 i really appreciate your time in replying to me. We do around 300ha of hay and barley and currently use a Massey 185 four stringer which is on its last season before being replaced by either a new massey or baron. We think in moving to the bale baron we can charge more money for the end product however our main concern is getting it all baled in time. With a quadrant baler we don’t have to worry of time but feel we are missing out on extra money from doing 21packs. There seems to be very limited info out there, agreed probably due to the amount of variables and the fluctuant uk weather.

@@jamesjarrett28 the weather is the biggest problem, we do about 40ha of hay then depending on the year 10000 bales of straw and then about 10000 bales of contracting so we end up doing about 35k bales. Charging per bale definitely increases price of the end product, in big bales hay is around 120 a tonne whereas in little it’s toward 200. That amount of hay, you may struggle to get it all in. Mainly due to the baler. The new barons can take a bale every 3-4 seconds (it may be faster but I’m not sure completely)whilst ours is around 4. However it does depend on oil flow. More oil flow will increase the speed.
