@alexcrowder16738 жыл бұрын
reptileroman That's very true, especially when breeding ball pythons. Sometimes the males will refuse to eat and actually starve themselves to death because all they can think about is mating. Male ball pythons are odd that's for sure, I've even heard of a male ball python that ended up mating with a group of female burms. It wasn't intentional, but viable offspring were born anyways. They actually look super cool. They are called burmballs and a few other people have started making them because of the whole incident.
@gentlelion59818 жыл бұрын

@@ApollohEdits mostly true, but being said it isn't always accurate and it depends on in the way they are active (like you said) if they are active in the day it may mean that they're either A. hungry, B. uncomfortable (humidity or temp is too low.) or C. not enough hiding spots. but if they are active when being handled it depends on if their breathing is fast or slow, my BP has very even and slow breathing while being handled but also LOVES to slither around and explore, if the snake is also trying to run from you than it is also not happy.

I'd say the minimum space required for these animals is 40 gallons as adults. I have my BP in a 48" X 24" X 12" enclosure and he uses every inch of space and corns have more energy therefore would benefit from more space as well. + in bigger enclosures you can provide more enrichment like sticks for climbing or tubes.

You can have trouble finding them in pet stores because they are not very popular pets, but they are extremely common in the Mexican border, Canadian border, and all across the temperate climate zones in America. +orange Juice I currently own a pastel ball python and a very active yellow bull snake. If you are stuck between a cot snake and a ball python, I would consider what your budget is. Corn snakes are going to be cheaper due to feeding over time. Also take into consideration that a female ball python will reach about 5 feet while a large corn could reach 6.

Milacat Research a lot on what type you want to get. What they need, eat, how to feed and some small facts. Then when you tell your family you say those things you've found out and tell them you can have it in your room, that way they don't need to acknowledge you have one at all
@YamiNoSensei137 жыл бұрын
Milacat- look for reviews before buying reptiles from an online outfit. Some of them claim to be breeders but are actually drop shippers. This includes some that pop up first in a google search! GoHerping Paws n' Jaws is a Canadian thing believe. Like A&W which are popular in my area yet not heard of in America. But I'll be sure to!

What’s best for me 75 gallon tank I want lazy to watch Netflix with me My mom is scared of snakes so it needs to be timid Needs to be good around kids I have a 1,5,6 year old siblings I’m 14 year old boy thanks

Get a ball python. While they are higher maintenance in terms of humidity, heat, and food, they are more likely to be the type to hang out and watch movies with you. Corn snakes are my personal choice; however, they are more active and fast moving. Ball Pythons have lovingly been called the pet rocks of the snake world because they are not very active. Please make sure you do your research though. Good luck

My brother has a python but I take care of her. She sits on me while I do school (I'm homeschooled) and she pariscopes while I work then curls up and yawns and I live having her company. My cousin has a corn snake and he is all over the place 😂

I used to hate any snakes until I held one and now I love cornsnakes:) pythons still kinda scare me because they just look at me and I always feel like they'll bite me ... also when I held a corn snake for the first time it got stuck in my hair 😂... everysnake I hold goes right into my hair... can anyone tell me why? *Edit: I want a corn snake really bad but my parents HATE snakes

Omg I'm the opposite, I used to be scared of corn snakes and loooove ball pythons. My parents absolutely hate snakes, my dad believe they are devil's?? I don't plan to have one in my country though. Nobody sells frozen rats, or mice. When I move to America or something I'm planning to have one

I'm getting a ball python at a reptile show soon and this really helped.

Which do you prefer? Corn,rats or kings?
@GoHerping8 жыл бұрын
This is going to sound weird since I have both a corn snake and rat snake, but kingsnakes might be my favorite haha (They're all great!) but California kings and eastern kings are known to be extremely docile from what I've heard and have really cool patterns.

a 20gallon?! for a ballpython it's entire life?!?!... hell no!!! my male ball is in a 50gallon and that seems to be JUST enough room for him...

Different ball pythons get to be different sizes, none can truly be the same size as another, like fish can.
@originalritny7 жыл бұрын
Also some snakes get really intimidated from being in a big tank and won't eat. So some do better in smaller tanks.

Kii Merle your right in a way and ball pythons don't need extremely large tanks! Between 40-75

Charles Berry ball pythons are lazy. They only stay in one or two spots they don’t need a lot of space

I have always been afraid of snakes so I am not sure why I watch snake videos. What a well thought-out and thorough presentation. You did an excellent job on this. The information was so informative and it seems to just flow out of your mouth with ease. You could have an excellent career and would make a great teacher!

dude you really really gotta delete this video and redo it both ball pythons and corn snakes DO NOT go in a 20 gallon, they go in a 4x2x2 feet enclosure, both of them.

Just found your channel and some great info, For a beginner, the cornsnake is the pick. Ball Pythons are a little more complex for a first snake and they can be difficult with feeding and very lazy with their sheds, just my thoughts. great video

Well darnit, that didn't help me decide at all haha. They both seem pretty amazing. I guess I'll just wander around the reptile show this weekend and see which one catches my eye the most. Glad I can decide on something as simple as which one is the most visually appealing since practically everything else about them is the same. (: thank you.

I tried with a ball python but my parents especially my dad are terrified of snakes so we got a charcoal plasma corn snake named bunny and he's such a smol sweetheart. When I get older I am most definitely getting a ball python because they're my favorite but I still love my boy.

I met this one corn snake, a while ago, that just wrapped itself around my wrist and stayed there for 30 minutes while I was looking around an animal sanctuary. The owner, afterward, told me that it was sleeping. Now, as I'm learning more about them, I can't wait to get my own one day!
