1 week? A corn snake can go 9 months without food. Okay don't starve your pets people but if your snake doesn't eat just keep trying every week until it does. If it's been as long as 1 month take it to the vet just to be sure it's not a serious illness.

reptileroman that is very true, I know some people who have a ball python and he refuses to eat anything but white mice
@alexcrowder1673
@alexcrowder1673 8 жыл бұрын
reptileroman That's very true, especially when breeding ball pythons. Sometimes the males will refuse to eat and actually starve themselves to death because all they can think about is mating. Male ball pythons are odd that's for sure, I've even heard of a male ball python that ended up mating with a group of female burms. It wasn't intentional, but viable offspring were born anyways. They actually look super cool. They are called burmballs and a few other people have started making them because of the whole incident.
@gentlelion5981

reptileroman as that can be very true, sometimes it just depends on the timing and snake. So far I haven't had any trouble feeding my banana pinstripe ball python
@painteddragon8496

reptileroman They can be but it is very rare. The only times they typically don't eat is when shedding, mating season and the gram mark.

Wolfy 562 if you’re ball python is really active, then it’s stressed out (no where to properly hide, temp too high or too low) or its hungry. They’re definitely sort of “boring” in they’re enclosure because if they’re comfortable, they just curl up in their hide. You know there’s a problem if it’s very active especially during the day

@ka1ulah
@ka1ulah 4 жыл бұрын
@@ApollohEdits mostly true, but being said it isn't always accurate and it depends on in the way they are active (like you said) if they are active in the day it may mean that they're either A. hungry, B. uncomfortable (humidity or temp is too low.) or C. not enough hiding spots. but if they are active when being handled it depends on if their breathing is fast or slow, my BP has very even and slow breathing while being handled but also LOVES to slither around and explore, if the snake is also trying to run from you than it is also not happy.

I'd say the minimum space required for these animals is 40 gallons as adults. I have my BP in a 48" X 24" X 12" enclosure and he uses every inch of space and corns have more energy therefore would benefit from more space as well. + in bigger enclosures you can provide more enrichment like sticks for climbing or tubes.

emmanuel quiroz Garters are pretty fast, but they are only really aggressive when shedding and are easy and cheap to care for. You can have trouble finding them in pet stores because they are not very popular pets, but they are extremely common in the Mexican border, Canadian border, and all across the temperate climate zones in America. They only get about 2-3 ft depending on sex and type, but make great beginner snakes!

Ball pythons generally end up needing larger meals once adults, which may make a 1-2 dollar difference per feeding. All 3 reptiles you named are great choices but I've heard bearded dragons love just being out and appreciate getting a bit of attention from their owners :)

I currently have a dog which I've had for 4 years and he's pretty active so I'm fine with quick and energetic animals. I'm also fine with shy pets, I remember that when my dog was a little puppy, he always hid behind my couch and refused to get out :D I've never had any other pet than my dog so I'm not really familiar with cleaning cages or those boxes (I dunno what you call them in English) :P

+orange Juice I currently own a pastel ball python and a very active yellow bull snake. If you are stuck between a cot snake and a ball python, I would consider what your budget is. Corn snakes are going to be cheaper due to feeding over time. Also take into consideration that a female ball python will reach about 5 feet while a large corn could reach 6.

so I've been leaning closer towards corn snakes because I simply find them more beautiful ( I guess it's the head) but I'm still not quite sure about them moving fast... like how fast actually? :'D And what would be your opinion on an established website, selling reptiles and breeding snakes since 1989 - does that sound good? trustful? the problem is that they only ship their animals and they live too far away to visit them... and last but not least, anyone having some good advice to get the 'okay ' from your family? :)
@CabanaRen
@CabanaRen 7 жыл бұрын
Milacat Research a lot on what type you want to get. What they need, eat, how to feed and some small facts. Then when you tell your family you say those things you've found out and tell them you can have it in your room, that way they don't need to acknowledge you have one at all
@YamiNoSensei13

Milacat- look for reviews before buying reptiles from an online outfit. Some of them claim to be breeders but are actually drop shippers. This includes some that pop up first in a google search! Lots of horror stories about people getting completely different species from what they ordered, or getting very sick or even dead animals.

Cats_In_A_Banana Depends on what you're looking for, if you want a medium sized snake that you can handle often and have room for the cage then a ball python, if you want a smaller more active snake that is a lil' trickier to handle then a corn snake.

Get a ball python. While they are higher maintenance in terms of humidity, heat, and food, they are more likely to be the type to hang out and watch movies with you. Corn snakes are my personal choice; however, they are more active and fast moving. Ball Pythons have lovingly been called the pet rocks of the snake world because they are not very active. Please make sure you do your research though. Good luck
