You inspire me so much Amber!!! Your so beautiful and your one of the most talented dancers I’ve seen!!! I know how stressful ballet exams are but you look so calm! My goal is to one day be as amazing as you are but it’s hard. I just took (and passed) my grade five cecchetti exam a few weeks ago after doing only 9 classes & 1 private. I had to test by myself in an unfamiliar studio) and my studio also makes most classes do two years of grade five before sending them to test but they wanted to get me to “where I should be asap”. Because my grade four class from two years ago quit after we tested out, leaving me with no grade five class so I got moved up into the advanced (grade six/seven) for this past year, but I never felt like i truly belonged there. I was 14 in a class with people almost four years older than me (minus my bsf who’s a year older & one other girl who’s 2 years older but they were supposed to be there already), it was so hard keeping up with them. I knew the intermediate class would challenge me like I needed, I would be repeating grade four which I had already tested out of but I didn’t feel like I was ready to be in the advanced yet either. I struggled so much this year physically and mentally, there was so much being expected of me as an advanced dancer and a freshman at an arts school where I had three dance classes everyday. I did over 25+ hours of dance every week not including rehearsals, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever tried to manage but it was so worth it. I ended up getting two big lead roles and one character role for the first time ever in our spring ballet of Cinderella!!! I love you so much Amber!!! (P.s. sorry of the rant, you probably won’t even see this)

I like to feel your complete, total, all-inner concentration. It always marked me when I went to the dressing rooms after the show. On stage, everything is always so solar, smiling, luminous, brilliant, but behind, during the show, I was amazed to see so much tension, wrinkles marking the foreheads, repetition of certain attitudes. It stuck with me deeply : )
