Could you PLEASE make a video on: How to get into Dance Schools (ie SAB at 17/18, teenager)? Because i want to audition in a few years but i have no idea what standard the dancers are at this age? In this video, could you give us tips on repertoires that we should be able to do to pass and get accepted into the dance schools and the amount of pointe work that should be precise and on point.

Yes that would be great
@YvonneFrindle8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this! It would be great if you could supplement it with a video outlining some preparatory exercises and progressive versions of this step that might be useful for someone who is still learning/mastering a renversé, as opposed to refining it. (I'm an adult student who takes open classes, so I'm not in a position to learn a step like this in a progressive way as a teenager doing syllabus classes might. I'm sure there are others in a similar situation.)

Hi I'm so glad to see you again. I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. But yea I struggle with that move a lot but this helps a lot especially since I'm only on flat shoes I hope someday I will be on Pointe despite my age of course. But I hope you feel better soon ok?
@jpatterson23298 жыл бұрын
Super useful! I hope your rehearsals are going well, super excited for you :)I noticed your lovely alignment as you ronde de jambed back: I would love a video on tendu derriere, I struggle a lot with keeping my placement/alignment and turn out to the back. The also negatively affects my arabesque, because I can barely establish a nice line in the ground, never mind in the air. It would be cool if you went into more detail about creating a nice arabesque line, as I'm not sure where to bend in my back and how to make the line extend from leg/glutes rather than just cave from the middle of back.....I also have a very long torso which I don't always know what to do with...Arabesques and tendu back and are challenging to say the least.
@amandanance9198 жыл бұрын
I second this. I have a long torso too...finding leotards is a struggle for me since they're all meant for shorter torsos
@jpatterson23298 жыл бұрын
Yes, same problem with leotards! I go a size up to for length of my torso (even though I'm short) but then they are often to wide, especially in the chest area. Consequently my leos are rather boring :p
@amandanance9198 жыл бұрын
J Patterson the same thing happens to me. I can't get strappy back leotards because it never fits me right :(

Hi Katie! I love watching your videos and they've been helping me prepare to return back to ballet. I was in ballet from age 3 to 8 before I had to leave due to my mother's health. I returned when I was 15 and did one season before having to leave due to my own health issues. I've never been en pointe which is my dream. I'm 19 now. Do you think this is something I could still achieve?

Do you have any tips? Thanks Katie

Hi Kathryn! Your channel is the best for ballet on yt of the ones I have checked out. Thanks for your videos and your honesty! I've got an annoying problem that you may be able to help me out with. We are a small group of dancers performing a short section of Giselle and at one point we're supposed to hold an arabesque for a number of seconds. We are using pointe shoes but in the arabesque we will be on a flat foot, not on pointe. I'm fine with the arabesque as a pose but my issue is that it's so wiggly due to the hard and thick shank. What can I do to stay well balanced? Turning out the standing leg well is good, but is there anything else I can do except engaging muscles? I (and probably some of my fellow dancers) would very much appreciate your advice! Keep recording :)

Hey Katie.... Can you help meeee? I have kind of a problem with my neck, i can´t turn and keep my head at a point, my neck don´t turn quickly. It is not diagnosed, it´s just a thing that i´ve noticed... So, do you have any exercise to "let go the neck?"

I'm taking ballet because of you. You're such an inspiration!! I just have one question: I'm in beginner ballet at school and I plan to continue after school is done. But I want to be pre pointe by the end of the summer, or at the latest end of the fall. Is it appropriate to ask my ballet teacher what I could do to get to this goal? This is also not the first time I am taking ballet. I am getting back into it and am much more serious now.
@amandanance9198 жыл бұрын
Sorry I'm not Katie, but you could totally ask your teachers! They want you to come ask for help and I'm sure they'd be happy to help. As long as you're old enough, the only thing holding you back is strength. Your teacher would definitely know some good strength exercises fit for you.
@DeMiRoxmysox028 жыл бұрын

Hey, Katie! Loved the video! I was wondering on how I can tell my teacher to be tougher on me. I don't want her to think that she is a bad teacher and that I think I'm way too good. I am working so hard and sometimes I see mistakes that she doesn't point out! How can I ask her to work me harder without being rude?? Thanks!
@milica89798 жыл бұрын
Hi, Katie! Sorry about my comment having nothing to do with this video or ballet! Having gotten to know you a little through your videos, I came up with two suggestions for makeup tutorials that i thought would really suit you. Would you consider doing a look inspired by Emmy Rossum from Phantom of the Opera or a Kate Middleton-inspired look? Good luck for your upcoming performance! :)

Can you talk about hip alignment? Last night in class my teacher kept saying I need to keep my hip under but I couldn't figure it out.
@xchocofairy6088 жыл бұрын
Think of hip under as knee under. If your knee is out to the side your hip is too. When your knee (for example, in a split) is on the ground your hips are square.

Is this a move the beginners can try? Or is it a move strictly for pointe shoes?
