Oksana might not be a strong skater when it comes to technical skills but she sure is a very classy, elegant skater on the ice. Her artistic presentations are always very exquisite to watch. Tress Braga I do not think Oksana copies anybody. But she said her idol was Jill Trenary not Kristi. As for her pink outfit, it was absolutely fine. Remember Oksana did not have designer very expensive outfits like the the USA team always has.

This costume is better than that cotton-candy pink thing she wore at the Olympics. :/ Yes, the music is cheesy, but lots of skaters have skated to Broadway medley showtunes and done well with it. I just wish she had used the Swan Lake music for her long program instead!

Surya Bonaly, for me, was the winner. I liked Oksana, I was also her fan and I enjoyed her style, skating and interpretation. But ... 2 falls !!! Surya was much better

Surya skates like a gymnast. She doesn't really stroke across the ice. She bounces around. This is not to say I don't like her skating. As a total package Oksana is much more charismatic.

Some people found the music boring (clearly not Broadway theatre aficianados). I found it charming, especially given that the Ukraine had only recently gained their independence. It was fitting that the music would be "light," light years away from how oppressive life in the Ukraine, under the USSR rule, would have been in 1980, when she was barely a year old. And then she went on to win the Olympic Gold Medal, using the exact same program, which showed off her artistic and acting skills on ice. She was magnificent.

Once again...no combination! It's incredible how she and Tonya both fouled up. I would've given this title to Surya Bonaly...and it said she was 2nd entering the free skate, yet she just did 2 lutz, 2 toe in short program?! I tell you, this woman had unbelievable luck on the ice and in the eyes of the judges (off ice was another story).

Oksana made mistakes here, but just based on speed and edge quality alone, this was enough to win over Bonaly.

@psbfan01 Surya and Yagiyuma both skated clean with a triple lutz-double toe but were placed below Oksana with a double lutz combo in the short. Harding who won the short with a clean triple lutz-double toe also had 2 judges place her below Baiul.

15 years old new to the world circuit and a full touring schedule? Too much for a 15 year old. No time for practice in an Olympic calendar year. An example of poor scheduling. Priorities not in the right place. Making money should not come before Olympic training.

Good point but the truth is Oksana at 94 Olympics could have just been at the side of the rink playing Game Boy while her music was going, and the judges still would have given her the gold medal result!

Oksana Baiul was the most overrated skater. Oksana should have never won the Gold Medal at the 1994 Winter Olympic Games. Nancy was the true Gold Medalist in my opinion.
