Lovely!! No wonder they were homesick.i had an uncle who never got home . I bought my mother and her mother over to NY as a surprise. Her sons were big men all 6 foot plus. Idlewilde airport had a lot of glassand a huge crowd to meet us.... when they saw Granny her sons started shouting at the tops of their voices and crying .... especially the one who had never been home”ITS MOTHER ITS MOTHER . “ He nearly came through the glass and everyone looking at him and clapping. Granny had a daughter buried in NY. She got TB during her pregnancy and died acre months later. We went to her grave and Granny literally fell on the grave crying so loud it was haunting. She scraped at the grass and stones and-made her poor hands bleed. I’m sure there are many many stories from other countries like this .😢❤
