They've been in the UK for a few years. I worked in a toy shop during uni and we sold lots of these "blind" plastic collectables. Also, probably the biggest toy to split parents between the "What? No I'm not getting you that, it's a rip off, pick something else" crowd and the "well okay, but it's your £5 so don't complain to me afterwards" crowd. Weirdly divisive toy.

i have a crippling addiction to buying pretty much all of these and have spent easily over £300 collecting random tiny slabs of painted plastic and cured resin :)) it's an awful terrible habit but I also source all of mine direct from the Chinese factories they're made in so I pay roughly £2-£5 per ball depending on what it is (still expensive) and then try as best as I can to use every aspect of it so I'm not wasting insane amounts of plastic. TLDR: buying one ball is a slippery slope to borderline wholesale importing a collection overseas AND hoarding enough unrecyclable plastic to singlehandedly ruin your local areas wildlife if you so wish EDIT: I also had this year's advent calendar which was....VERY hit or miss. Definitely disappointed
