The front rectangular part that holds the glass behind which is the bulbs. This part is held on by screws around it's parameter. Find those screws as they can be hidden behind other components.

Rusty, I have a Bally 809-5zb. 5 coin quarter. I got this slot machine full of mouse stuff, wires were eaten and needs cleaning. I would like to know if the manual sold on eBay called OWNERS PICTURES GUIDE TO REPAIR. have you heard of the book and would recommend it to repair my machine. Thank you Robert

I do not know of this manual so unfortunately I can not recommend nor devalue it. Sorry.

I can’t remove my coin basket. I have a “ 1096 25 cent” made in 1976. Trying to figure why my machine won’t power up. It went dark just sitting there.

Thanks for posting this. My dad passed away a few years ago and he left me his Ballys machine. When I got it home it wouldn't turn on. It sat in a corner until today when I was bored. I seemed to remember a hopper issue. Thanks to your video it was a simple hopper reset and bam the machine works like a charm except the arm doesn't return to the starting spot very well. It seems to be lubricated. Any chance you know an easy way to do that? I'll take a look at the machine again later today, I am sure I can figure it out.

Hey Chip, Thanks for the comment. With the machines I've looked at I generally find 3 issues that prevent the arm resetting to the original position. 1) Dirt and gunk. There parts have some grease on them and over time the grease gets dirty and stiff. 2)Spring tensioning. The return spring may have lost some of it's tension over the years and therefore doesn't pull back hard enough to return it to the start position. 3) Worn parts. With repeated pulls, the washers, shafts, bushings and inner linings become work cause extra friction that hampers the arm movement. While only 1 of the aforementioned issues can create the problem you are describing, it is generally 2 if not all 3 are contributing factors. My suggestion is to pull the reel mech tray and then disassemble the arm to see what is going on. On my first attempt I added a stronger spring which helped some but did not resolve and when I finally pulled it apart, cleaned it, regreased and replaced the worn parts I had to go back to the original spring because the new one was slamming the arm back with to much force. Most people when the play will pull the arm down and just release it allowing it return with no resistance. If it returned to quickly it can be destrucive to the machine and dangerous if you don't have the machine fully secured to the cabinet it is resting on. Hope this helps!

I have a Bally 831 with a flickering fluorescent bulb in the lower display. I can't see how to get to the bulb. I've already replaced the starters. Is the there a lever somewhere that releases the display..?

We have inherited a Bally 5 quarter coin machine and at first the quarters just fell through to the coin tray, so we watched your video took the coin mechanism off now the quarter gets stuck, think we made it worse. Is there any help can give us.
