I guess I have to watch the whole series again to get the full picture. Very good idea and content building from scratch.

Hi Joshua, my concept of differential ailerons is exactly the opposite... the aileron that move up should do it more than the aileron going down. Could be you are wrong ´cause the plane is upside down? maybe the language barrier trick me?
@JoshuaOrchard2 жыл бұрын
YES! OMG, such a good point to make. My explanation with the airplane upside down does not make this concept very clear... THANK YOU! I'll have to cover it in another video.

Have you ever found that when painting readiboard directly, it will start bowing? Possible I run into this from painting one side at a time?
@JoshuaOrchard2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's possible but it's also possible you may be applying too much paint at once. Try to go even lighter with your application. It may seem like a pain but it's the steps you have to make with the media you are using.

For bending: get 2 short tubes with a bit bigger diameter to bend the wire with your hands instead of hammering. You will have a better control of the angle if you push those metal tubes over the wire and then start bending bit by bit. If you do not have such tubes then there is another way to achieve the same: take a rod of wood and hammer 3 U shaped nails over such wire on which you first put a small piece of 1 mm cardboard. Nail them carefully down till they touch the cardboard and then remove that small piece of cardboard. 1 mm or 0,5 mm is enough space to get the wire easily in and out of this tool. This trick will avoid cracking cause you will not hammer onto the wire that it can crack, just a smooth motion close to the angle you need and then check the wire by laying the piece onto the paper plan. Now you see easily what is missing and bend on the plan to get close and closer. If you need to do more then the best are small pieces of U shaped aluminium profiles with different dimensions like 2 x 2 or 3 x 3 or 4x 4 mm square size for your rods, cause the wire should not have too much space. If so then add tape on the wire to make them thicker. You can fix those U profiles on your wood with 2 or 3 wires. But you need profile sizes that match you wire thickness, that's why I have multiple of these tools. But I prefer fixed tubes on the wooden rods stabs to have a better force control while bending. I had lost too many wires and therefore played around for a better tool. Good results, cheap and reusable. Of cause hammering is faster but try to get control in smaller angles than 90° or bigger cause there the complication starts.

Yes, using a sleeve over the rod will give you more control but you are still using cold metal that may stress fracture. Yes, the impact from hammering can cause the fractures and you have some really great suggestions here. I chose to go with the absolute simplest way so that others can approach it a little easier. I do hope that other folks see your comment here and can use it. Thank you for following along!

Well done. Looks really nice. Thank you for taking the time to put out this video. I know I n the past you mentioned a filler but can’t remember which you used. Do you use packing tape? If you do is there an adhesion issue with the spray paint?
@JoshuaOrchard2 жыл бұрын
When I use filler, I use the 3M stuff. DAP has gone to a material that includes a latex primer and it does not sand... like at all. I do not use packing tape. Again, weight. Thanks for following along and the questions too!
