Those are absolutely the best style hinges other than actual full length pin theough built in hinge holes... i.e. hidden hinges just like full scale hinges.

I like the Heating of the petroleum jelly and then brushing on .. good tip 👍🏻👍🏻 I would just glob it on . Your way is way cleaner . That Robart jig is a must have , I need to get one 😊😊 great work !

Thanks! Yes the jig is cool. Still have to be careful. Have to hold it tight and still keep an eye on the orientation. I’d say its helpful but not foolproof.

I have never used a jig you just need to be sure your drill is perfectly square to the work.

Robart is not going out of business. They have stopped production of their landing gear and retracts which they are known for. Everything else in their lineup is still available. Good job on the plane!!

Perfecto nicely done Yah knw I didn't get the nack for those back in late 70s/80s, always off a bit but then again we didn't hv that jig. I belive the Dubro has the drill guide for horns incld & that can be for a pilot hole. The vaseline trick is a good one, I learned early on from an old timer scratch builder.

I like CA hinges. They are the easier to install. I wasn’t sure how big of a plane a ca hinge is good for. So I went with these.

Great job. I have never used hinge pins but I am intrigued. Why should you use hinge pins vs nylon hinges?

I don’t think there is anything special about them. The traditional nylon hinges are great. I do like drilling the hole instead of slotting. Except for CA hinges since they are thin, slotting isn’t that bad. Comes down to personal preference I guess.
