I was looking at this one closely during the sale, but ultimately preferred the Baltany Retro Chronograph. Unfortunately, the order was canceled due to stockout, so I will have to hold off until next time. I like both, but the brushed case and running seconds hand sold me on the other model.

Your are right, a polished case makes it look a bit cheap. A brushed one tends to be more vintage-looking. Furthermore, I believe that the thickness is a bit big considering the diameter of the case... At 38 mm it should have been under 1 cm to look proportionally great.

What you need to consider is that these are homage watches mostly and historically they used chromed brass cases in the main. Brushed S.S wasn't an option back in those days. So, do you want a modern watch case or a period correct looking case? I just forward a few seconds and your next gripe is a lack of signed crown...So again, did the originals of these homage watches have signed crowns? They cheapen the look and don't enhance it in my humble opinion.

Nice, but what the Chinese brands don't get is (indeed) going all the way with fauxtina, meaning the dial tekst has to be faux-paint too. They just don't get this.

A bit late to this review, but nevertheless: Great work as usual, and yet another great looking Baltany. I don't own a smaller size chrono, and this would complete that itch. I agree that polishing on like the sides would be good here, but otherwise it's just a great looking watch. The Seiko VK6* meccaquartz movements are always nice to find in chronos since their reputation of being real workhorses, and also because of that sweeping chrono hand.

I really like it on the OD green canvas. I felt like that would be the perfect pairing. I really like the vintage styling as well. I'm not usually a huge fan of fauxtina, but in this case I feel like it really works well. Also am a huge fan of box-domed sapphire crystals. Nice long seconds hand as well. Just a really classy piece, IMHO. Hey Steve, I wanted to ask you if that would still be available to pick-up in a few days??? Look forward to hearing from you. Keep up the great work. Cheers....

It's a very nice piece, I think I might prefer the champagne dial just a fraction more, although this would be a close 2nd choice... but I think both of those dials work better with a darker brown leather or dark brown suede (a bit like the one you showed)... However, do you prefer this watch over say the Alpha or that Vintage Paul Newman Daytona design? You might want to check out Vakis Rigas Paul Newman Daytona with the 7750 auto clone or even cheaper the quartz movement. My father bought the VR 7750 clone, but tbh, it now only works when the chrono is working, so I'd probably recommend the quartz...

Sweet intro. This is a good looking watch. I do prefer a running seconds subdial and I think I speak for everyone when I say I could do without the 24 hour subdial. Overall, this is a nice looking watch. Great review. I always enjoy your strap fashion shows.

The "Baltany" brand and the words "chronograph" should be in written in cursive font instead of print to make it look more vintage.

I do like the look of many of Baltany's offerings; but the minute hand on my new quartz military homage wobbles by about a minute with the crown fully in; Support told me the loose behaviour was normal for the movement. I've several quartz watches - some quite cheap - never seen this before. For 120 gbp, I would have expected more 'support'. Shame ...

hmm, well that is disappointing indeed. I have no such issue on my unit. not saying it should be your problem, but I wonder if just resetting the hands (like physically removing and replacing) would fix it.

Sorry not about Baltany but about the San Martin strap. It looked as if it was a bit longer than most as you said you have a 7.5 inch wrist. I have a 7.75 inch wrist and findthat on most straps and natos I am on the last or second to last hole. Can you tell me which straps you have or a suggestion for some reasonably priced ones. Thank you. Have a great one from Cincinnati. WHO DEY!!!

That NATO was the Cnswatchbands or watched cheapestnatostraps used to be. They have great length on them. Plenty of length to tuck it back under. 👍

Yes, it's the Chrono minute counter, so when the Chrono isn't running it should be pointing up.
