Very nice tutorial. An easier way to remove the valves though would be to get a piston pin or a deep socket and stick it on the retainer and tap the socket or piston pin on the retainer with a dead blow mallet to let the cotters free. I know it sounds WAY sketchy but it works. My engine teacher at my school taught us to do it that way. :)

But how do you put them back?!

After removing the cotter pins with the 19mm socket, how would you go about reinstalling them? I'm considering doing a top end rebuild but I don't want to spring for the valve compressor unless its completely necessary.

I plan on rebuilding my GS450. Are the engines pretty much similar as far as the rebuild is concerned?

I get the alternate way to remove the valve cotters with the big hammer. How do you reinstall the valve and springs.
