Shishir Bhai , my salutations to you for bringing to light about Thakur Balwant Singh. All of us have enjoyed listening to that signature tune of AIR from our childhood. Balwant Singhji deserves to be celebrated today in the 21st century even though he composed the AIR tune 8 decades ago. Hope his son successfully wins this battle with the Government for restoring due credit that hasn't been given to him. As you rightly said, I think his wife rightfully deserves to be compensated during her life time; after all it's an intellectual property right. May his soul rest in peace. 🙏🙏🙏

बिल्कुल नयी जानकारी... आजतक हम यही समझते थे के ये ट्यून एक यहुदी ने 1936 मे बनायी थी जो उस जमाने के झेकोस्लोव्हेकिया देश के यहुदी थे जिन्होने भारत मे शरण ली थी.. इतनी महत्त्वपूर्ण जानकारी के लिये धन्यवाद... मेरी कामना है के जल्द की बलवंतसिंगजी को इस ट्यून का श्रेय मिले..

दिनकर राव के खत में तो यही जिक्र है कि बलवंत रेडियो स्टेशन पर गाते थे। इसमे यह नहीं है कि उन्होंने सिग्नेचर ट्यून बनाई थी। ब्रिटिश लाइब्रेरी की चिट्ठी धुंधली है पढ़ने में नहीं आ रही है। यदि बलवंतसिंह अपने इंटरव्यू में यह बात कहते थे तो कोई एक प्रकाशित इंटरव्यू की प्रति तो होगी?

जी सर, दरअसल बलवंत सिंह जी के बेटे द्वारा दी गयी स्टेशन डायरेक्टर और बॉम्बे टॉकीज़ में बलवंत सिंह जी की उपस्थिति से सम्बंधित कालखंड सम्बद्ध जानकारी की क्रॉसचेकिंग और इस पत्र के धुंधलेपन और भाषा ने मुझे भी कन्फ्यूज़ कर दिया था...बचाखुचा चमत्कार एक और भूली बिसरी फ़िल्मी शख्सियत को खोज निकालने के मेरे अति उत्साह ने कर डाला...विषय की गंभीरता का एहसास मुझे तब हुआ जब अरूण कुमार देशमुख जी ने मेरा ध्यान इस ग़लती की ओर दिलाया...इस विषय में बलवंत सिंह जी के बेटे से मेरी और अरूण जी की बात हो चुकी है...लेकिन अब कोई और रास्ता नहीं है सिवा इसके, कि इस विडियो को हटा लिया जाए...लेकिन फ़िलहाल मुझे यूट्यूब के नियम कायदों के जानकार मित्रों द्वारा ‘खामोश बैठे रहो’ और ‘ऐसे ही चलने दो’ की सलाह दी गयी है...

Sir, I have following info about All India Signature Tune. It was played by Mr. Walter Kaufmann (01.04.1907 to 09.09.1984). He was from Austria - Hungary. He was composer and conductor also. His picture and this related signature tune is very viral on social media. However the tune appears to be with Indian classical base and there is no explanation whether Walter knew about this and if he has never travelled in this region how he got such idea?

The AIR tune was made by the German refugee Walter Kauffman. It is mentioned in the book on Kauffman by Amrit Gangar. After the death of Balwant Singh, his relatives made this claim, but it was rejected by the AIR and the Government. Gangar's book title is " The music that still rings at Dawn, every Dawn." On page number 37/38 he has given all the proof on this issue. Balwant Singh had himself never made this claim.
