BAM Pro Tour Championship - The Battle for the TOC Title!
The 2024 BAM Pro Tour Tournament of Champions (TOC)-sponsored by Bass Boat Technologies and presented by Tackle Warehouse the City of Oakley-brought the best bass anglers to the legendary California Delta for an intense three-day showdown! With no practice and over 30 days of off-limits, the challenge was real, and the competition was fierce.
Hosted in Oakley, CA at Big Break Marina, this season-ending event tested every angler’s ability to adapt to the Delta’s ever-changing tidal waters. With a fully-rigged Bass Cat Pantera Classic on the line, the stakes couldn’t have been higher!
DAY 1: GUTIERREZ SETS THE PACE
Greg Gutierrez kicked off the tournament in first place with a 19.11-pound bag, anchored by a 5.39-pound kicker. His Frenzy Baits Nail shakyhead finesse approach proved deadly in tough conditions.
Meanwhile, Ken Mah stacked up 12 scorable bass, leading the Keeper Count by covering water with a squarebill crankbait, ChatterBait, and a flipping setup.
DAY 2: ZACK THOMPSON SURGES AHEAD
Zack Thompson took control with a 17.84-pound bag, bringing his total to 36.50 pounds. Targeting reaction bites in Franks Tract, he kept a steady stream of fish coming in with ChatterBaits and crankbaits, but also landed a 6.03-pound kicker on a flipping bite.
Ken Mah stayed in the hunt with 16.76 pounds, including a 7.07-pound giant on a Spring Craw ChatterBait. He adjusted his game plan as the tide shifted, punching thick cover for key fish.
CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY: LUKE JOHNS CLAIMS VICTORY!
Luke Johns of Folsom, CA, delivered when it mattered most, sealing the win with a 16.42-pound limit to become the first-ever BAM Pro Tour TOC Champion! His winning strategy? A Picasso Shock Blade Vibrating Jig for reaction bites and a wacky-rigged Yamamoto Senko for finesse presentations.
His key catch? A 4-pounder spotted on Garmin LiveScope under a bait ball-an incredible moment on the Delta!
