The scale of 850 truck loads never seemed too to crazy until you said non stop dump trucks for 30 days straight! I would definitely enjoy more pond building information videos. I see there are a lot of Q names left for the bass so my suggestion is “Quillian” and an A name for a bluegill would be “Augustus”.

That shot of the crew working the machines in the intro always brings back crazy nostalgic memories of watching Hard Hat Harry tapes as a little kid. You can still find some of them on youtube which is nuts. Love to see you talk more about the pond! I don't think I'd ever do something to this scale but a large pond is definitely one of my goals.

As a few others have mentioned. Cost. Cost of construction, clay, seeding grass, stocking fish, liming, dock, feeding. From the start it looked line an insanely expensive project but over time it became very clear you don't skip out on things over cost. Incredible videos though, always excited to see them. Keep them coming, any content is good content.

As a kid, I had a bass pond in my back yard. I also had a nice sized vegetable garden, which grew wonderful harvests. I would fish large blue gill out of the pond and chop the raw fish into 1' square pieces. When I put the plants in, I would place 1 raw fish square under each plant. They are a great natural source of nitrogen and the plants put out some excellent vegetables. We never ran out of Blue Gills and though I don't have a pond in my yard, I still use fish emulsion for my fertilizer.

I have watched this series from day 1. It has been one of the most informative, yet entertaining series I have come across on KZbin. I would be very interested in what building a 5-acre project like this costs. I am guessing with all of the equipment, dozing and delivery of the clay liner loads, along with everything else, the pond alone, not including the cabin, has to be somewhere between the $1.5 million and $2 million dollar mark. I may be a bit high on the estimate, but I don't think I am that far off when you include the well to fill the pond, the projects to stop the erosion, the lights in the pond, pellet feeders, and cameras. I see you are planning another pond build, will the new pond project be larger, smaller or about the same size? Thanks in advance.

I would love to hear more about the engineering and ecological considerations that went into designing the pond. I watched one other KZbinr who built his own ponds, and it didn't seem like they were putting the same thought into it as you. Unfortunately, he had to abandon his ponds due to fish predation and loss of water. I am glad that your pond is going strong thanks to all of your careful planning. Hello BamaBass, I’ve been watching your videos since the start of the series. I am From São Paulo, Brazil and watching your videos really brings me that nature peace. Something I would not have in a giant city. I’ve been to Southern Alabama this year and fell in love with the culture and the people there. I would like to give a bass name for the Brazilian viewers. C: Corinthians (Brazil is the country of soccer and Corinthians is the biggest club here, with the name having its origins from “Corinthian” in the Bible). T: Tupi (Tupi is the name of the indigenous people who lived here before the Portuguese arrived and colonized Brazil. It’s a common pet name here, just like Apache or Navaho in the USA). D: Dom Pedro (the last name I will suggest is Dom Pedro, in memories of the last emperor of Brazil, and some say the greatest Brazilian to ever live. Fun fact in one of his travels to the USA, he was so beloved by the American people he received more than 5 thousand votes in the American election). Any of the names would be a cool and unique addition to the pond and will honor all Brazilians that follow the channel. Big hug from Brazil, and wish the best for you, your family and the pond. 🇧🇷🤝🇺🇸

I’ve had Murray Cod, Silver Perch & Callop that I’ve raised & released. But after finding your channel a few years ago. I settled for an Australian Bass which I have named “Mad Rooter” in my tank at home. I dare say he’s as aggressive as Moby. At only about 1 1-2 Inches. I saw him eat a worm about twice the size as he was. Popped it in, and he took one end. Slurping it like spaghetti. After 2 hours, had eaten the whole thing. Keen for more videos to come. Cheers from Mad Rooter & I!

Hey BamaBass ! Great project you have going on ! Because of your channel I decided to build a 1 acre pond on my 30 acre Farm ! Luckily I’m on a swamp and used a 2 inch Harbor Freight gas pump to fill my pond ! I had to buy 600 feet of discharge hose to connect the Swamp with my pond ! The water quality is phenomenal, I didn’t realize but after a couple of days filling, I saw tiny fish in my pond ! I couldn’t believe those small mosquito fish survived the journey through the pump ! I also discovered freshwater crayfish and believe it or not, freshwater shrimp ! I used a lot of gas to fill the pond and always considered it as a temporary solution to fill my pond ! You mentioned you had a well drilled with a 5 HP pump to fill and maintain the water level ! I lost about 3 feet of water because the fall was so dry ! I think I would like to go your rout to maintain the water level with an electric pump, because the gas pump is loud, and disturbs the wildlife ! I need some input about your well and pump ( how deep, cost, maintenance of pump, cost to run) Thank you and good luck !!

how much water do you think soaks through the clay liner back into the well? If you don't let any water soak in during wetter years, your well will run dry and you won't be able to fill the pond during a drought. Swales with trees planted on top are known to recharge the groundwater. Building some swales by the sides of the pond while you have all your digging equipment available is a great idea!

One thing I pondered back when I had land suitable for a pond... the stand pipe: Why make it vertical in the pond? Instead, put the inlet deep down inside the pond and have it rise at a gradual angle to the outlet. That way when large volumes of water will push sediment upward through the drain and discharge it on the downstream side of the dam, preventing excessive sedimentation in the area of the intake. That might require multiple or much larger outflow pipes. It may also wash out stock, so don't use non-native species. Not being an engineer I don't know if that would work better than the vertical non-sediment-removing pipe.

Amazing ! There are not much people trying to build ponds with clay! A few questions, why don't you plant some solid trees on the dam? It would help consolidate the dam to face the erosion and the time. Also, why don't you put some purifying plant like nenuphar and bamboos, in order to invite biodiversity and provide a shelter to multiple little species that would provide food to the bass ? And the last one, why dont you add a muskie or a pike to regulate the bass in order to prevent a fall from baite fish population ? Greetings man !

This series is great. It has been very relaxing to binge. Fish name suggestions: Angela, Aetherius, Icarus, Issac, Nancy, Newman, Peter, Ptolemy. For Y I suggest Yggdrasil but I get if that's a bit wordy. Roger, Zeus, and Newman. Those are all that I've got on the top of my head. Love your channel!

Trout Creek just out of West Yellowstone is where Vern Koelzer built his trout pond I got to fish in 1975. No fish, but I saw the way to get really big trout there.

Few ideas I had, sorta went with country music singers :) - Johnny Bass, Bass Paisley, Lee Bass, Bucky Bassington, and if you have P and L still could do a Pancho and Lefty. Good luck, love the videos!

Name submissions for the bass! Since there are two Y’s still available, it’d be cool to see a Ying and a Yang. Two in direct competition to one another haha.

Alfalfa and clover have a 14 to 18 ft root base so you might want to try those animals love both and they reseed real well.

This series has been very intriguing thank you so much for sharing the whole process. I think the names Zarcoxie, ciphira, mochi, and Falcore would be great bass names. And Morla for a big blue gill!

Perhaps a very isolated and small section of the pond could have an overhead net or cover for feeding so as to discourage predatory birds picking off the fish
