Great video matt, it's 23° here with a foot and a half of snow, I wish my winter looked like yours 😂😂

I grew up in the south and we are just not equipped for cold weather. We just aren’t, and each year, the arctic blasts are stupefying for us. I felt every gust of wind you did. lol. Still, you got out there with your sleepy fiddlers and made a go of it. Thanks Beach Bum!😊❤️

16:56 sounds like any December day catching Steelhead in Michigan…but don’t get me wrong, I don’t like cold feet and hands either… the day after Christmas I head south to Orange Beach and return to the north when the walleye start to run in the spring.

I don't even mess with fishing when gets down in the 30's but I grew up in Southern California, so that didn't happen very often! 😮 Thanks for your service!🫡

Quite the struggle there my friend but even at that whether that's just long sleeve shirt weather for us Northerners LOL glad you caught some fish still makes for a good day

The last time I went to the North Carolina coast, the weather was supposed to be decent. It was everything but. A nor’easter developed and the waves were 13 feet coming in. Even the bridges were rough. I saw no fish caught. I didn’t even get to fish. The best thing is that I was able to spend time with my wife. She went home to heaven suddenly only five months later. I’ve also been ice fishing when I lived near Lake Erie when it was zero or below zero. When the one blows the snow across the ice, it’s like a sandstorm. The snow hets into any open place in your clothes. Wind chills can be down to 20 below. I miss ice fishing, but not the freezing wind. Have a great time fishing.

Thanks, Matthew. I appreciate your fortitude - for a Southern boy. lol As a Northerner, I spent many days sitting on the ice, freezing my feet and hands and came home empty. It's still great to be able to get out and chase after those finny creatures.

Thanks for the video. I enjoy all of your videos, because you mostly fish from the bank or beach or piers, which is what most of us are limited to. You catch a variety of different species, which is also encouraging to us. But, there is one thing that the vast majority of your videos have in common, and that is, you almost never have a measuring device (one of the most important tools we must have to stay legal). I would be happy to send you one. 😎

To keep your fiddlers alive/active, fill a water bottle with hot water and put it in your bait box. It does help.

I've broken the ice in the creeks to get into the Chesapeake Bay to catch rockfish. Ice in my beard and frozen coffee is worth a 46" rockfish!

Sure do enjoy and really look forward to your vids. Have you ever tried suspending crabs with a float up against pilings for sheeps?
@DavidHarrisGRI15 күн бұрын
I've had some success with that. Got to have the right conditions to keep it against the structure. Need a big float.

Looks like your fishing with Brant, LOL, just for the cold temperatures alone let alone that your able to catch something I give you a thumbs up from here in Panama City FL not far away.

That’s sheepshead fishing from land, man. It’s tough. Something I like to do is put 2 crabs on the hook. You’ll feel the initial bite where they grab the 1st crab. Then get ready for them to come back for the 2nd. Way to grind it out man!

I'm from Virginia and I've been fishing the Chesapeake bay and inland rivers all my life. When the cold weather arrives so do the stripers. I've found thru my experience that if the weather is pleasant enough for me to be comfortable I don't catch as many stripers. They like it cold .
