Yup, glad you had the kill switch attached. I'm also glad you got the boat back in the water. I've noticed it in the background at your home. Hope you got the leaks fixed. Hope you'll do more small boat fishing. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Steve,I remember that video and It really hit home I have a boat similar to the grizzley 16 with a Yamaha 25 4 stroke I love it for the river and back bay and I have been complacent wearing my kill switch but since that video I'm connected every time I start the Motor,,,and yes sit on the other side and steer with your left hand if you go that route again get a seat and Base and install it ,it will make a huge differance in your stability in the boat when running. God Bless

Steven, I've got a couple comments on this one. #1 on part 1 of this at the beginning I said to myself, that's not good, that's gonna be sketchy. That's a narrow John boat. This time I said, oh yeah... that's much better. Width is your friend! In a John boat. I also completely agree that a John boat does not fit your intentions. I really enjoy your openness and sharing your experiences. 2nd, I just bought a 24' CC that's in OBA. I'm currently in Northern IL but will be moving to Foley soon and will be heading back down to your area to pick up my "new to me" pride & joy around the 3rd week in Sept. I've watched every one of your videos, some more than once and I'm looking forward to your up and coming offshore videos that Hopefully! I can use to help me put the first AJ, Red snapper, Grouper or Vermillion in my new boat!

Thanks for sharing! My first boat was a 1648 jon boat and I learned a lot getting it ready and fishing it in my local lake before upgrading to a 21 ft bay boat. I still have it and plan to take it bass fishing soon, but your vids really make me crave the salt bay stuff!

Just glad you didn't get hurt. My older brother's boat was hit broadside by a 8 ft wave and put him in 4 degrees Celsius which gives you about 3 to 5 minutes without a survival suit. This happened Nov 19 1999 and he was found 100 yards offshore with his buoys from his nets holding him above water. He died in the hospital due to his core temp dropping and there was no way to heat up his blood. 2 years later the hospital got a blood warming machine because of this. This all happened in Georgian Bay which is a part of Lake Huron in Ontario Canada.

Hi Stephen, thanks as always for your content. I saw part one some time back, and my heart skipped a beat when you went over. Because I’m a little twisted, and I love slap-stick comedy, I thought it would have been funny if you PRETENDED to fall off again as soon as you got in your wider boat. But like I said, I’m a little bit bent and a big fan of physical comedy. I’m not discounting what happened before by any means, that was scary. Thank the Lord that you had all of your safety measures in place. God Bless you and your family. Okay, time to watch.😎

Hey Stephen weird question coming from me, does boat motor have a carburetor or fuel injected? If it has a carburetor, fatten up the mixture screw it will start easier. Tune carburetor to best and smoothest idle, adjust idle back down best idle speed, then turn the mixture screw one full turn out. This will make it easier to start. One pull ....lol. Oh, just another tip if the idle speed is to high that will also make it hard to start. Still would love to go fishing with you. 😁
@BamaSaltwater4 ай бұрын
It's electronic fuel injected ! Thanks for those tips though!! I could use that advice on my lawn mower

You need yourself a 16-17 ft flat bottom skiff , I live in New Jersey and we also have a very large bay with a lot of traffic so a jon boat did not suit it either, that’s when I went with a 16ft Carolina skiff and it was perfect, I could get out in the open bay on the calmer days with no issues and on the days with more chop I’d stay in back bays running a line for crabs, I thought I’d just put my experience out there after hearing you are struggling with the same thing, I hope you are able to find the perfect vessel that will replace that jon boat, God Bless.

Well you got to realize that there's different boat designs for different purposes... he flipped a johnboat, at high speed, in open water, while turning... pretty much a guaranteed outcome. A johnboat has a flat bottom and is designed to be used in calm, shallow water, like a small lake. Maybe camo for duck hunting.
