I love your show. I have spent 60 years fishing The Great Lakes but now my winters are going to be fishing The GOM near Ft. Myers, FL. I'm new to saltwater fishing and watching as many KZbin videos as possible this fall and early winter to learn as much as possible about catching and identifying fish. I get that when you're used to fishing a particular way a person will skip over some things that seem so obvious but it's not obvious to a newbie. Please don't think you're boring us with minor details. Thanks for the tutorials and the best of luck to you.

@BamaSaltwater2 жыл бұрын
Gulf State Park Pier is the cheapest, most versatile opportunity to fish without a boat or kayak in my honest opinion. I was raised fishing the GS Pier ( I have many days fishing and catching on that pier LONG before KZbin haha) You have an opportunity to hook into a big game fish such as King Macks, Tarpon, Lings and sometimes even Mahi and Bonita depending on the conditions as well as Pompano, Flounder, Whiting, Specks, Reds, Sheepshead and all the other Inshore Species as well including Triple Tail on occasion..

Used to go reef fishing with my Dad and Uncle in Bermuda, handling 100 lb test for grouper, porgies or whatever. Pull up a 2-3ft reef shark by hand at 12 years old is an experience. No gloves, line cuts but you pull hard and when you swing it over the rail? Commotion and the ping of the aluminum bat. I'm smiling while typing. Dad would filet the catch on the way in, bracing his legs against the back of the boat. He would leave the skin attached as well flicking the filets into a bucket of sea water with his knife. I would collect the filets and feed him fish while my Uncle drove us home. Some happy days. Thanks for triggering the memory.

We were out there yesterday. Ran out about 23 miles and got into the beeliner pretty good. Almost every trigger we caught was 14”. Had one keeper. I think the charters are hammering em pretty good right now. Couldn’t find any of the stop signs we threw back in snapper season.

I wished I had taken them to Doc's Seafood but we had to fly home.

On a calm day, how far out do you lose sight of land
@BamaSaltwater2 жыл бұрын
You lose sight of the beach itself around 8-9 miles , but you can still observe all of the taller condos. When i hit 16 miles, I lost sight of almost everything except Turquoise. At 24 miles, you don’t see anything but the “haze” at that point
