아름답다 I would love to see a more detailed video on every aspect of creating such bows with a short history of these bows, the difference on how they were built in the past, explanations of how and why the particular bamboo is selected, how the arrows are designed and built. I understand that there are other videos already covering these things but I think you way you present this topic is exceptional. 잘되 가다

@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ thought everything is ok now after the crucifixion? You can eat what you want, drink what you want, charge interest when you give a loan. There's no law right? (According to Paul) So why do people need to repent? For what? For making a living in the very world created by God? My holy spirit says, "keep calm and carry on". (Jesus didn't claim divinity according to the literal words in the Bible but believed through conjecture by many) This man's craftsmanship is the good things of this world, it's not greed or indulgence nor mere spectacle the reason why people are watching this video but appreciation of the production of people when we are at peace, calm and have a sense of tranquility.

Hi, I don't want to ruin the fun but this is is not traditional at all. His construction methods are much closer to modern western bows and the resulting bow is of a low quality. Historical Korean bows were almost always horn/sinew/bamboo composites. The idea of the horn/bamboo/sinew composite bow is that horn, which is very compression resistant, is placed in the belly of the bow which experiences most compression. Sinew is very rubbery and is put on the back where it stretches the most. The bamboo is kind of average in compression/stretching so it acts as a middle man in the center of the bow where the limbs both compress and stretch. This results in a very fast, compact and flexible bow. Apart from just the materials, the overall construction method is also completely different; The tips of the bow should actually be separate pieces of wood that are glued into the limbs. That's also why the bows have reinforced lacing near the tips, that area is where the limbs and wooden tips are joint together. Same goes for the handle. The handle in this video is more like the modern western handles. The historical handle is diamond shaped and the limbs are glued into the handle rather than on top of it. The modern method results in a much longer handle - which is exactly what modern archers want - but is unideal for historical bows. Overall the bow in the video is not very good as a result of all of these things. The bend is not sharp at all (sharp bend = longer max draw & better draw force curve). The string material is also an exceptionally poor choice, it should either be a proper modern string (for example dacron or fast flight) or a traditionally made string (silk, sinew etc.). Even the shooting is very beginner/intermediate. The release is abrupt and jerks the string, you can also see that the arrow is fishtailing in flight at 13:02 (fishtailing is when the arrow is wiggling left/right, like the tail of a fish), indicating a poor release technique. I think it is also presented in a deceptive way. If you look at the same shot I just mentioned, it's a clear miss, it was going to hit the bottom right corner of the target but then they cut to a clip of it hitting the center. If you want a true traditional horn bow, they [usually*] are custom orders that take 1-3 years to complete and are around ~3000usd. Mine is still being made as of writing this. But the cheaper laminated bows are actually still very good! Two of my bows are laminated Korean bows in the 200usd range and they are excellent for how little I paid for them. Tiny speed demons they are. Laminated is the most common type of bow material used today for a good reason. Lastly I just want to say that I'm not trying to make fun of the video creator. I encourage them to keep shooting and learning to make bows! I'm not a gatekeeper, we're a small community and need every person we can get. But the content of the video isn't presented in an honest way. This could have been a nice video if it's content was labelled correctly.

@Susikohmelo
@Susikohmelo 6 ай бұрын
@@ГеннадийРазинкин I appreciate the input but self bows (flatbows, longbows) were used for the things you're describing. There are historical descriptions of sinew backed bamboo bows, used for light weight training beginners, but the bow in the video doesn't even have sinew. If you wanted a cheap bow, you would just get a self bow. The one in the video is a lot more work but it's not even much better. And all of this doesn't change the fact that he uses modern western construction techniques! Even if someone wanted to make a bow like this historically, they wouldn't build it like this

Welcome from Hungary. It is not a coincidence, as Koreans are also Huns. We were and are very good in bow making. Mongols are also kept tradition.

I don't think you guys are talking about the same thing. He's referring to the Hunnic empire which some suggest is related to the Xiongnu in Asia. Based on what I know did not extend to the Korean peninsula. The Han in Hangul refers to the 3 great kingdoms of the Korean peninsula. Unless you guys are talking about something else I'm missing 😅
