@user-zq9ey8zj2g Not even close. Try again. English long bows were traditionally between 80-120#, and traditional archery today is usually right around 50-60#. I shoot traditional archery and am a part of a few groups dedicated to traditional archery skills. I have also studied ancient war weaponry and tactics. You obviously realize that a bow at 150# is extremely difficult to pull back and use. It's very counter productive to even make a bow that high of draw weight. The idea in battle was field as many as possible, not 0.000001% of the army.

Ну учитывая что сделано на коленке вполне норм вопрос в том сколько у него сила натяжения сможет ли он вообще когот пристрелить одно дело стрелять по мягким мишеням в тире и другое по зверью у тогож кабана шкура бывает слипается из за грязи и прочего так что ее и крупная дробь не всегда берет не то что лук хотя какую нибудь мелочь типа птички престрелить наверное сойдет метров с 15-20.

Вызывает сомнения соединение верёвкой плечей лука. По-сути, это та же тетива, а тетива, до изобретения искусственных материалов, была слабым местом лука, т.к. могла отсыреть под дождём, вытянуться от постоянного натяжения, из-за чего её надевали на лук непосредственно перед использованием или незадолго до. В остальном конструкция вполне себе имеет право на существование.

Very nice 🙂 That's a fairly modern design made by a guy called Penobscot who figured out how to get a half decent tension from relatively low poundage bows, great if you can't find a suitable piece of wood for a self bow, a bow of a single piece usually made of a more flexible material like ash or yew. I've used a penobscot it's a great design but I don't think I've ever come across one with over an 80lb draw? Which is good enough for hunting game I guess

I don't know where you heard that origin from, but the reason it is called a penobscot bow is because it originates from the Penobscot people of northern America. It's not a particularly modern design at all. Also, how heavy the draw weight is entirely depends on the maker and the wood, and 80 is more than enough for hunting.

While the two look similar, they are less similar in how they operate than a matchlock musket is similar to a bump up rifle.

Особенно после просмотра фильмов про индейцев. Когда смотрели фильмы вестерны. Играли в индейцев и белых. Это было в семидесятых восьмидесятых годах. Но именно подобную конструкцию вижу первый раз. Попробовать что ли на старости лет . Подобное повторить как здесь на видео. Даже стало интересно. Что у меня получится. Если попробовать. Надо подумать. Очень интересный выглядит лук. I want to know how many times he needed to sharpen his hatchet knife. And what did he use to sharpen with. I can't imagine just any random rock would give an edge as sharp as that broad sword appeared to have.

It looks like a "Condor Mini Duku Machete", 1075 steel, pretty easy to sharpen on a smooth rock (like the ones found in rivers). ^^

Very interesting bow build! I made one when i was a boy, Then made the arrows w/38 & or 357 & 45 cal. pistol shell casings! u can knock the firing cap out of the casing & insert a nail thru it then put the arrow in the casing! Holy moly Old man Jesse Phillips did not know where his chickens were going but hey me and my nephew was only 12/14 yr old and didn't know better Well that's my story and i'm sticking too it!!!
